Audiophile/gaming battlestation of a university student by zowkiin battlestations

[–]zowki[S] 0 points1 point ago

A midwoofer. It can't do sub-bass.

I like the Silverstone SG05, its a Mini-ITX case not mATX. The fit is tight but the temperatures are good.

Yeah, I sort of regret it. I mainly bought it in anticipation of homebrew but the homebrew scene isn't very big.

Sunscreen lotion, I live in sunny Australia.

Its not a subwoofer. Its a midwoofer which is supposed to be on the table.

Not sure what the big deal is. The cans are sturdier than you think and I doubt a 10cm fall would do much.

Yes, I'll be upgrading to a O2 amp soon.

Best bass heavy headphones for under $200? by furbledurblein audiophile

[–]zowki 4 points5 points ago

Audio-Technica PRO700MKII and Sony XB700 are true basshead headphones. No need an amp for them. The DT770 and HD280 are more balanced.

Are M50s good for gaming? by hotweels258in headphones

[–]zowki 1 point2 points ago

What other closed headphones can compete in the ~$150 price area? I think they are priced appropriately.

If you are using them in public then stick with the M50s. They are the best closed headphones you can get for the price. They are not as good as open headphones for gaming but for your needs it will do fine.

Thoughts on new Tivoli cans by LockesKidneyin headphones

[–]zowki 1 point2 points ago

You're not addressing my second point. Tivoli has not produced a single audiophile grade headphone to date while Audio-Technica has a strong lineup of audiophile grade headphones. Theres no reason for me think that Tivoli could match Audio-Technica with their first headphone in terms of sound quality that even includes noise cancellation.

Thoughts on new Tivoli cans by LockesKidneyin headphones

[–]zowki 2 points3 points ago

For starters the noise cancellation circuitry adds hissing and distortion to the sound and Tivoli isn't particularly known for designing audiophile grade headphones unlike Audio-Technica.

For $160 you're better off getting an Audio-Technica M50

I started Diablo 3 with MY wallpaper (New Vegas) and had more than great results by 900900900900in gaming

There was another image with a similar concept except the games were COD:Black Ops and Football manager 2012 or something like that. Anyone know where to find it?

Harman's "How to listen" ear training tool by Arvein audiophile

[–]zowki 0 points1 point ago

Sometimes I wish I never became an audiophile so I can enjoy poorly mastered/highly compressed music. Attaining high quality audio is a big drain on my time and money. I've had to cut back listening to some of my favorite artists because of such low dynamic range in the music.

The D5000 has clearer and more forward mids and better treble extension. The cost was worth it to me.

The high end headphones I own compliment each other in different types of music and the M50 is my portable headphone.

I never got a chance to compare the HD600 and HE400 side by side but I can say that the HD600 is more neutral in comparison. I personally prefer the HE400 sound signature more.
