This is the last picture he ever took by Txein funny

That's not how lenses work. Part of the reason why this picture looks "epic" is that it has depth unlike something shot on an >100mm lens from distance.

People don't understand how lenses work, but they still subconsciously identify depth.

Do you think europe will recover (economically) and remain the dominate world super power? by zeenahwooin europe

[–]zekkerjah 0 points1 point ago

Given how for the second half of the 20th century Europe has not been focusing on world domination and has been perfectly fine. And given how for the first half of the 20th century we have been beating the shit out of each other endlessly over world domination, I don't think there is any reason to be aspiring for world domination anymore.

They are just different perspectives, ie. there is no "real" way to portray any of these, and any of them could be achieved with a camera and the right lens in reality. Certainly it is entirely subjective as to which one is "retarded" and which is the "best".

I can't wait till the Bart plan is complete. Future Bart map by viggyswamin bayarea

I think the original plans were more like propositions for developments to all the local governments. So the creators didn't mean for this to be a real system, just the one in a perfect world where everyone agrees and all the properties were problem free.

It's why these suburbs were built to begin with ;) I learned not to expect suburban politics to be on any respectable level.

It's not a movie, it's a transit system. These things always take many many years to develop and complete. 2018 actually looks impossibly close for extending such a big piece of infrastructure.

The way developments in our government work - the plans proposed always have to be really huge so it's easier to get people to cooperate.

In the 50's and 60's building such a big infrastructure would have been easier (due to lower land value, less people to convince, more open space to build in), but in the end the population growth in the Bay was so much faster and more rapid than expected that building these kinds of developments became very difficult.

Your numbers don't apply, even adjusted for inflation. The United States weren't financially what they became in the coming years financially and Germany was wrecked. The proportions were completely different. The Marshall Plan was huge.

Meanwhile in the 90's, 13 million new and completely naive consumers and taxpayers entered the West German economy. That means new opportunities for existing companies with access to a completely new infrastructure. Increasing the population by 13 million increased your tax revenues, especially with new wealth in the 90's. Not to mention a completely new consumption market that has never been exposed to any form of western commercialism.

If anything - most likely that cost was the best and most logical investment made.

Americans don't complain about re-building the western side of your country. Why? Because rebuilding shit is a great investment. American wealth and power are the best proof of the results of that investment.

Getting a chance to invest in rebuilding a country after decades of mismanagement is an opportunity, not a "cost".

I am still kind of new and naive when it comes to motorcycles but, do some riders get away when chased by police? by dbtdiddyin motorcycles

I'm not running from the police in any country on a vehicle with a registration in my name.

When it comes to pure efficiency, Sweden reforms its' citizens back to being obedient, productive tax payers. Why? Because when a public system contributes to your entire development (education, health, social workers) when you end up locked up in a cell you are actually a loss to the investment that was put into you. And that system represents society, and not "the man". When it comes to thinking about social justice in an economic sense, "locking" someone up is actually worse for everyone.

Cheating Level: Novice by Z3Fin funny

Hah - so the distribution can be as much of a help as a problem depending on the situation. At the point at which you get into this kind of thinking, you might as well just study for the damn thing =) multiple choice tests are easy!

Cheating Level: Novice by Z3Fin funny

[–]zekkerjah 0 points1 point ago

I agree, it's just funny how true randomness is less effective than the made-up randomness with us.

If the answer choices are known to be spread out evenly, wouldn't be a hint knowing, say, the answer to 50%or 60% or 70% of the questions?

Cheating Level: Novice by Z3Fin funny

[–]zekkerjah 1 point2 points ago

There is true random (generated by actual randomness, ex AABCABBBA) and there is fake random (when we make a string of answers seem "more" random, ex ACBABCBAC).

For a simple little multiple choice like this, a teacher wouldn't necessarily bother with going through the trouble of actually using random numbers.

And I'm not saying this isn't fake, just the handwriting is enough I think.
