TROPHY CASE

Help me pick out my first Jeep! by hydrogenousin Jeep

[–]z3niMAGiNE 0 points1 point ago

I have a i4 and offroad I have plenty of power but people driving behind me on the highway through mountains probably think I'm a granny. It probably doesn't help that wind is way louder than my turn signal too.

From an MRI of my brain to a 3d object by Senor_Lawisin somethingimade

[–]z3niMAGiNE -1 points0 points ago

Seeing your baby's face isn't just vanity. For example, a cleft lip can be identified in utero and allow the parent's to select a surgeon before the patient is born.

Just since you mentioned it, I'd like to discourage people from getting ultrasounds outside of a medical setting. Although bioeffects from diagnostic ultrasound are thought to be minimal you don't want to tempt fate. Also, if your baby is found to be dead (which can happen at any point in gestation) I think you want to be in a medical setting with your doctor and not in a strip mall with some person you don't know.

I work in pediatric cardiology and at the last fetal symposium I went to there was a company that printed out 3D models of baby's hearts based on CT data. The models help the family of the patient understand the structural difference between a normal heart and their baby's malformed heart (sometimes they can be really complex). This makes it easier down the road to explain surgeries the baby will have to undergo. I can't remember how much they were charging.

Have any of you Redditors seen Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie? What were your thoughts on it? by RobinHood21in entertainment

[–]z3niMAGiNE 0 points1 point ago

I didn't know who Tim and Eric were before I saw the movie. I guess I still probably don't. I saw a bunch of well known comedians in the cast so I figured I'd give it a shot. I found the movie almost unwatchable.

This isn't the type of comedy with jokes and that's fine but I only remember laughing once or twice and mostly I was just genuinely grossed out and confused.

Is Hopslam *really* worth it? by coombuyah26in beer

[–]z3niMAGiNE 6 points7 points ago

I agree with this sentiment whole heartedly. I find myself asking "Is it worth it?" more and more the deeper I get into craft beers. I like to try different things when I go to my beer megastore but I also like to pick up my cheap standbys that suit me best based on past experiences. It's hard to put a dollar value on your personal enjoyment but I've also found great beers for dirt cheap. If you're trying to be frugal, I'd say the best strategy is to ask for the price of a single bottle and try it that way. Hopslam is a good beer but even the "best beers" can be distasteful for some individuals.

Best streaming device for Netflix? by enemanin cordcutters

The very best is another PC. Look on Craigslist and I'm sure you can get a piece of shit that works for the same price as a Roku.

I'm planning a trip to Sequoia/King's Canyon and Yosemite this summer. by z3niMAGiNEin hiking

[–]z3niMAGiNE[S] 1 point2 points ago

Thanks for all of your information. I'll probably return to King's Canyon again without the kids but it seems like a good way to get a little taste. We'll probably spend the most time at Yosemite just because it seems the most kid friendly but a former parks employee has told me it's dreadfully crowded most of the time.

Do the parks have shuttle services like Grand Canyon & Zion? It'd be extremely convenient for when we do want to split the group.

Does anyone know how old one has to be to buy a house in the US? by MistahFinchin homeowners

[–]z3niMAGiNE 1 point2 points ago

[Realize this is an old thread] That's not necessarily true. Real estate is a very slow growing market (looking past the bubbles) and if you're looking to make money, your money will definitely grow faster if put somewhere else. Being a home owner will allow you to customize your living arrangement and give you the opportunity to learn a lot while doing it. Buy a house to love living in and not as an investment.

Introducing Spire (for Siri) a simple Siri installer for all iOS 5 devices. by SpaceEdgein iphone

[–]z3niMAGiNE 1 point2 points ago

As I understand it, you need to have a SiriProxy server, which I guess can capture the authentication. After spending the last 30 mins reading, I'm not sure I want to be a guinea pig in this endeavor quite yet. Maybe some reputable company/person will securely set up the services for us and make it dead simple for dimwits like myself but be careful of who you're using as a proxy because Siri can access a lot of data in your phone apparently. I never realized it before but iPhone4S users are entrusting their privacy to Apple in a pretty big way that's probably gone unnoticed in most users' cases.

SiriProxy is free to download, seems easy to install, and there are some pretty neat mods and stuff going on in that arena but most people lack the resources to create a stable server in which to run it. Therefor it is likely when we do eventually see honest people safely setting up these proxies for end users they will want some sort of compensation for their resources (and rightfully so). I guess then we'll have to decide whether or not Siri is worth the $X/month,year,whatever to use.

It's too painful to use the terminal for anything but a single line of text, I'd just stick with Colloquy.

Thanks for the suggestion but I cut the cord almost a decade ago and the only coax in my house runs to the cable modem.

How do I keep an outdoor-ish area cool in the summer? by staple_thisin howto

[–]z3niMAGiNE 1 point2 points ago

A swamp cooler is what you're looking for. Unless you live in a highly humid area, then a powerful fan is the best you can do.
