Suggestions of liquid foundations for super sensitive skin? by VitaminRosain MakeupAddiction

[–]woowie 0 points1 point ago

While I don't know what ingrediants you reacted to, I'm currently using benefit's hello flawless foundation. I have very fair, acne-prone skin and I love it - a little goes a long way.

Looking for a necklace in the $100 range (bridesmaid gift) -- anyone have a favorite shop? by withbellsonin wedding

[–]woowie 0 points1 point ago

While you may have already found something you liked, I wanted to throw it out there that jewelry making is pretty fun and if you find a nice pendant and beads you like, anything is possible (and pretty easy with some youtube video guidance)

I'm making the necklaces and earrings for my 4 bridesmaids and it feels nice to give each one a personal touch.

Just got my dress!! Let the shoe hunt begin! by denganzenabendin weddingplanning

[–]woowie 0 points1 point ago

I'm wearing some heels with my dress and changing into some platform white flip flops at the reception.

Don't necessarily look for a "wedding" shoe...it's the same for shoes, favors, candles, etc...attach the word "wedding" to it and the price doubles. I'd suggest just going to as many shoe stores as possible and don't spend too much!

ELF Studio brush set on sale for $3 (w/ $30 purchase) It's a really good starter brush set, I use mine quite often and have no complaints by SureSheDidin MakeupAddiction

[–]woowie 1 point2 points ago

Definitely a good deal - I just got this brush set about 2 months ago and love it (especially the foundation brush, complexion brush, and eyeshadow "C" brush)

Stay away from ELF's lipglosses imo, but I love their eye primer, liner, and mascara.

Has anyone used the site undercover tourist for tickets? I'm intrigued.

Recommendations for drugstore lipgloss/chapstick? by plaidsuitpantsin MakeupAddiction

[–]woowie 1 point2 points ago

When it comes to plain chapstick, I use DCT (daily conditioning treatment). I play french horn and trumpet sometimes, so I look for something stickier that will stay on.

Ugh, I just found out yesterday that it's on Steam for $20 (all of King's Quest)

I'm taking this as a sign for me to eventually cave in and buy it.

I'm a fair skinned red haired girl. Can you tell me what colors would look good on me, while still looking natural? by Miss-Lydiain MakeupAddiction

[–]woowie 0 points1 point ago

My little sister fits that description. I did her makeup right before my bridal shower and, since she almost never wears makeup, it was fun to figure out what worked!

I liked Maybellin's lipgloss stain in some sort of berry/red color (I can't remember which shade she has)

I have a lot of E.L.F. makeup and I loved the $1 brown eyeliner on her. I have a large eyeshadow palette from them, so I can't remember exactly what colors I used on her eyes, but DEFINITELY look into getting eye primer - it has changed the way my eyeshadow is 5+ hours later.

For blush, try any sort of "rose", it seemed to really work for my sister. I have Benetint, but it doesn't work for my sister (a bit too bright)

For an all-over foundation, we share the lightest shade of Hello Flawless and it's worth every cent! (and it helps that I had a 20% off coupon one day for this) I put on a bit of moisturizer since my skin is kind of patchy and dry in some spots. My sister doesn't use bronzer, and if so, it's barely any.

Also, brushes make a HUGE difference! I'll NEVER go back to the ones that come with eyeshadows or blush. I have this one and it's great for the price (especially the foundation and eye brushes)

I am not a makeup guru by any means...in fact, no makeup on today. However, I'm getting ready for a wedding within the next month so I'm buying/playing around with makeup a lot. I hope there's some good advice in all of my ramblings!

EDIT: also, I am now using Maybelline's Matte Powder all over with a big brush so I don't look shiny. I tried using Revon's colorstay powder, but I broke out badly each time I used it.

Any ideas for cute, inexpensive wedding favors? by Lindbjorgin weddingplanning

Something edible definitely stands out as a good favor. For my bridal shower, my sister got some melting chocolate in our colors, a rose mold, wrappers, and thank you tags (and a lot of patience)

Reddit, the first birthday party I can remember was a pirate party. For my 30th birthday party, I'm honestly considering renting a retrofitted pirate ship. Is this really lame, or would you come? by Ninshain AskReddit

[–]woowie 0 points1 point ago

One of my friends has a pirate party every year - we drink grog, someone pulls out an accordion and passes around song lyrics, we have a costume contest, a raffle, a pinata, and end the night with Muppet Treasure Island on a projector outside.

Doing this on a pirate ship would be awesome.

It's been too long since I've been to WDW...should I bring a backpack? by woowiein disney

I'm starting to lean towards a drawstring bag for sunscreen, camera, wallet, snacks, and a poncho.

I didn't realize Disney allowed outside food/snacks. Good to know, thank you!

I wish I had decent cargo shorts to fit all of that! Instead I have unusable girlie pockets...

Do you know which questions you should be asking your floral designer by Franopolisin wedding

[–]woowie 0 points1 point ago

I lucked out on flowers - my future mother-in-law used to work at a flower shop and already knew what stores to hit in the area and what questions to ask. And to top it off, she surprised both of us - after we ordered everything, she insisted paying for it! I love both of our parents - they treat me like the daughter they never had and mine treat my fiance like the son they never had. :)

Deadlocked in choosing our wedding venue, help! by melberrypiein weddingplanning

[–]woowie 0 points1 point ago

Are they both in the same location? One factor to keep in mind is where the guests will be coming from and where the long-distance guests will be staying.

If you go with the more expensive venue, can you remove a couple menu options to make it cheaper per guest?

I'm normally scared to do a red lip but the girl at the Revlon counter convinced me to buy a lip butter in Red Velvet. What do you guys think? by FairlySuperin MakeupAddiction

The color looks great! I've never tried lip butter before, just lipsticks and glosses. How does that work?

What extra information should I include in my invites? by withbellsonin wedding

[–]woowie 2 points3 points ago

Here's what my invites had:

main invite with time and place of ceremony reception card with time and place

rsvp card with envelope

one insert: one side had hotel booking information, the other side had addresses of venues. At the bottom we put something like "for detailed directions, registry information, to request music, blah blah blah, visit our wedding website at yadayada.com/blahblahblah"

Women here who use fake eyelashes, I have some questions! by WhatsInAName39in MakeupAddiction

This YouTube video helped me tons (I'm a newbie at it, too!)

Putting eyeliner on and waiting for it to dry all the way before putting on the lashes makes a difference for me. Then touch it up a bit after.

I want to practice more with makeup..but im broke by cizzy-sweetin MakeupAddiction

ELF makeup from their website!

They always have some sale going on. Their lip glosses aren't very good IMO, but their eye makeup and liner is great, along with their studio brushes and bronzer.

What should I know about dress alterations? by ineedtobeinvisiblein weddingplanning

[–]woowie 0 points1 point ago

Here's my experience of my first fitting. In the second fitting, I brought my maid of honor to learn how to do my corset and bustle. I had one more fitting after since my modesty piece didn't cover enough (another $40 to get a new one made, but well worth it)

Shoe Heeeelp! by ztrainin weddingplanning

Is it a down-to-the-floor dress? If so, no one will really notice. If not, be brave! :-)

Shoe Heeeelp! by ztrainin weddingplanning

[–]woowie 0 points1 point ago

Your shoes can be your "something blue" if you want!

Also, don't look for "wedding shoes" - giving it that label will automatically make the cost go up. Start searching by color or style.

Last thing - I went with $30 open-toe pumps and got platform flipflops at Old Navy for about $6 for the reception. Comfort is key!
