He has the whole place on rent, including the PCs which were there from when the place was built. The whole place was set up completely, just needed marketing and management. So the owner (Who is filthy rich) decided to give it on rent.

Yeah, I still play CS with friends! We also started playing BF2,which is there in a recently opened Cafe, but that's just everybody not knowing what they're doing, therefore it's a lot of fun and stupid stuff happening everywhere.

As I said, It's not all MTNL,my friend who lives 15 minutes away from my place (Walking) gets a latency of 15ms on SpeedTest.net whereas I get 120ms, he has MTNL. It seems to be a problem with the area itself, or my building's wiring, because I've changed routers, wires and usage plans, and the latency still haunts me.

[–]vjfalk 1 point2 points ago

Oh! Well, I'll tell you my sad story, I have MTNL as my ISP, now that's okay, but there's some problem in my area because of which my latency goes to 120ms when I'm pinging someone in Mumbai itself.

Try this - Open up CMD, and type in tracert www.google.com

This will find all the hops and the latency of each of them.

Now, the latency that I am supposed to get, when contacting the main MTNL Mumbai server should be around 10. But I get something around 80, which is just horrible.

So I was never able to play CS 1.6 online/or on Garena from my PC because of the insane lag that I would get :(

Thanks for your offer, but I'll probably never play on my laptop or on this internet connection, also I don't have Steam right now, and will have to download TF2 all over again. When I do play, I'll join you.

I play BF3 on the PS3 though, it doesn't lag much at all, I don't really know why.

Haha, there are too many! I used to work with a guy who had taken a Gaming Cafe on rent, the configuration of each PC was -

Intel i3

8GB Transcend RAM

NVidia GTX 460

500GB HDD

20 Inch LCD Screens

And all other accessories, including the tower, mouse, keyboard, were Razer. The whole cafe was Razer sponsored.

And what do people play there? DOTA and CS 1.6. Only a few people would play games like AC:B or Splitsecond, just because I had installed them in and told them to atleast try the games.

There are 3 gaming cafes just 10 minutes away from where I live, walking distance. (Another thing being that there are many schools and colleges in this area)

I have a laptop, I did download TF2 some months back on Steam, but was unable to play because of the high latency and because I couldn't play so well with the USB mouse.

[–]vjfalk 45 points46 points ago

Well, I live in India, I'll tell you why this is relevant, it's relevant because most people here play CS 1.6 or DOTA only. This is the gaming scenario here, well, atleast in my city, Mumbai. Most people have low-mid end PCs and people don't really buy games here, there are very few people who are actually gamers and play different games, and are up to date with all the games that are coming out. Hardly anyone plays online, people who play DOTA don't know about the WOW MMORPG.

Now, we have Gaming Cafes , it's basically a LAN party, you go there, pay for the time you play for. I have dwindled away from the main point here. So, people in Gaming Cafes usually just play CS 1.6 or DOTA. But these two games are played competitively everywhere. Now, CS:S didn't really pick up here, probably because of the graphic requirements. I'm not even sure people know about CS:GO. Gaming Cafes are the places where the Multiplayer happens.

The people who are actually interested in gaming, or play competitively, know about it, and they're probably the only people who might play it here. Of course, I'm being quite general, but its like this here.
