Once in a while Ash calls in his old Pokémon to help him in choice battles, especially his Kanto team. Pidgeot is gone for good, pretty much, but Charizard can be called from the valley at any time, Squirtle can always take a break from his fireman duties, and Bulbasaur is always waiting at Oak's lab.
