Then why does /r/funny have a sidebar full of rules? No memes, no screenshots of reddit threads, no rage comics, etc, etc. Your argument could apply equally to all those, since mods have to make a judgement call about "what is a meme", or "what is a rage comic", etc.

When I am hired as a mod, it is to support the rules of the reddit. The #1 rule in /r/funny is "be funny". I "censor" shit all the time in my reddits. Crap is crap; if you let people post crap, then the overall quality of your reddit declines, and people leave (unless you're a default reddit, then crap floats to the top).
