So the tutorial would be for new users? A good idea but I'm not sure that would necessarily solve the problem of overall declining quality in the defaults discouraging "high quality" new users.

Sad but true. There's only a few major newspapers, NPR, and Pacifica Radio News that I could see putting out this quality of story. And if NPR or the papers did it, they'd have to present a "fair and balanced" perspective.

Are you referring to the issue about reddit sponsoring gifts for US armed services? That one doesn't seem nearly as clear cut as this one.

Some TV personalities are just popular on reddit. It used to be Mythbusters, now it's Gordon Ramsey. I don't think there's a clear cut indication of manipulation here like there was with the military homecoming videos.

That is keeping it real, for real. I had to watch this linked video too, Dave actually got me a little weepy there talking about his dad (the vid isn't really about the Illuminati at all). Dude needs a big ass hug, or he did, I think he might be doing a little better these days. At least he does regular stand up gigs now from what I know. I'd give a finger to see him.
