The view from Trump's 16th floor terrace is worth one $18 drink...Here's a panorama I made with my iPhone last evening. by vexxed82in chicago

I sort of agree. But maybe because I've been up to the hancock so many times that it's kind of an "old" view. I like how close you are to everything from Trump, yet have a great view. You feel like you're part of the scene, whereas at Hancock, you're above it all. Either way, they are both great views, just depends on what you're looking to see

I use an app called Autostitch. Not sure what my secret is, but I always capture a wider area than what I am actually trying to end up with so I can crop out the weird edges. So for the edge/corner images, I usually hang about 50% of the image over where i want my subject to start. Does that make sense?

Yeah, Im a bit disappointed the next one is in Pittsubugh. Should be "pretty" (in a Gotham kinda way), just not my hometown.

"Sixteen" - As it's on the 16th floor. Really cool spot. Like I said it's pricey, but the view is worth it if you go later inthe afternoon when the low sun is striking the building faces looking over the river

i use Autostitch, and really like it. Has some nice options that give you control over file size so you can make big images. Time of day and lighting was a huge help in giving me such nice color and contrast

Though I couldn't see the partial eclipse directly on Sunday, it sure did make for a nice, stormy sunset over the S. side of Chicago. by vexxed82in pics

[–]vexxed82[S] 0 points1 point ago

Thanks, EdgeCrimson! Just about everything went right in this shot. My only gripe is that the actual sun was a few degrees outside of my field of view. Though the ellipse would have been tiny, it would have been cool to say it is in there.

The photo itself is about a 170° view. The sun was low enough, and partially blocked, so the light wasn't too bright on the storm clouds it was reflecting off of. Behind it (left/east) the bubbling storm clouds were in shadow and the sky was getting darker due to the time of day. It was really an odd sight. It felt as though there was a giant orange spotlight casting an eerie glow over the entire city at this time. Thanks again.

Thanks! I can only imagine how awesome it was over the Grand Canyon. It felt like a giant orange spotlight had flooded the entire Chicago area - it was strange outside.

No problem, happy to share my work. i guess it's not necessarily up votes I'm looking for. Photography is what I do as a profession so the more eyes I can get on my work, the more my chances increase some one person might remember my name, or find me through Reddit for future business - wishful thinking, I know. Though i should clarify, I don't troll/post to Reddit looking for business - it's just a potential added bonus of posting things i make to a community I've been a part of long before I even started photography I've thought about imgur, but i like having photos in one place to share through various online and social outlets.

I know Flickr isn't the best, but I've already invested a lot of time in organizing and optimizing my flickr sets, collections, etc. for easy navigation and quick access - for myself and for others viewing. Im also able to gauge interest on photos I may want to print to sell at some other point by tracking page views, comments, etc. For my uses other than Reddit, Flickr makes a lot more sense for how I use it.

Thanks! I just submitted it there, thanks for the reminder. I never seem to get traction when I post photos to r/pics. It's almost as if only the funny/exceptionally good ones get any up votes. We shall see what happens...

Thousands March With Veterans for Peace at Chicago NATO Summit; Police Respond With Brute Force by davidreiss666in politics

[–]vexxed82 0 points1 point ago

Not quite. I live in Chicago and kept close tabs throughout all of the events. I followed a slew of Twitter handles and kept up with all of the local news' expanded coverage. There were some tense moments sure, but it never escalated to a point where the police needed to disperse tear gas or make mass arrests. To my knowledge there was surprisingly litte damage to any buildings/shops/stores etc. I.e no rioting. Compared to past world meetings I think it went about as well as anyone could have expected.

As i saw it, the one White Hawk was traveling with two chinooks coming in from the Northeast towards McCormick Place. In the far distance to the south, it looked like there were 2-3 more choppers - perhaps this was the rest of the fleet.

Thanks! That shot is awesome. It was just a few degrees outside of my field of view. A little earlier in the year and I may have been able to get it in the frame.

Almost! I'm in the tan mid-rise across Morgan, just to University Commons' East.

I definitely edited it to bring out the details and color, but i didn't add any colors. I simply enhanced the colors that were already present in the RAW files. The wide view of this image also helped make for such a range of light and color. To the east (left) there were some deep blues as the sky became darker and was in shadow due to the large rain cloud in the middle. The biggest challenge was reigning in the brightness of the sunset to the right, but it came out about as good as it could have i think

Tomorrow should be good. My cameras ready - I'm pretty close to McCormick Place, in relation to a jets flight path at least. Got these last year at the Air & Water Show
