Just start a forest fire, no need to keep the fire maintained, plus rescue will arrive in the area a lot quicker. It is a win/win.

Scored these German coins for next to nothing, so I thought I'd try my hand at photography. by marksk88in coins

[–]ttyler 0 points1 point ago

To be fair the 88 or HH idea never crossed my mind. I figured it was either your birthyear or your number from a team or something.

Down in America is up in Australia...just thought you should know.

We’re putting an end to this: Options v. Pennies. AmericanPegasus and I have agreed to a Reddit style duel: profits go to the opponent. by jartekin wallstreetbets

Could you post here which penny stock you bought into and at how much (the same day of the purchase)? Just so we can scrutinize, and post witty comments about the choice(s), while eat popcorn?

Why I hate numismatics. Check out this awesome trade dollar (Pre-Morgan) that I have. It should be worth well over $10,000. PCGS says it is basically worthless because it was cleaned. by nugget9kin Silverbugs

[–]ttyler 0 points1 point ago

My entire problem is not PCGS stance, its with the person who cleaned the coin in the first place. I have no issues if this coin was cleaned by a non numismatist; however, if this was done by someone who knew this would affect the value only to pull one over on someone...well that is another story. This is why coin collecting has developed a kind of negative image to me personally. There are so many shysters and people with low-ethical morals, that would love to take advantage of the unknowing and profit from it; while destroying something beautiful. Ughh, it just pisses me off.

I wish I had that kind of capital! Anyway, what is the reasoning behind your tremendous support of F(I do not mean this in a negative manner)?

Edit: Spelling!

stop talking about penny stocks on here by entsportsjunkiein wallstreetbets

[–]ttyler 0 points1 point ago

Investments are in investments and those can include penny stocks. I am by no means saying penny stocks are a wise investment, I am just saying that speculating on them fits within the scope of this subreddit; and consequently, opinions/statements regarding them should not be censored.

recommendations for good, easy to use software for web-page creation? by ttylerin software

[–]ttyler[S] 0 points1 point ago

Thank you both for the replies! I will keep your warnings in mind. I have not committed myself to the development of the web-page. I am just looking at what options are available, and the associated costs.

The Thesis theme from diytheme does look like the most reasonable option (versus Dreamweaver or Expression Web 4), that is within my technical range. The page will be nothing fancy, just the name of the company, contact info, and pictures of the homes my father-in-law has developed.

Anyway, thank you both once again for the information!

Facebook to go public May 18 with NASDAQ stock ticker "FB" by mepperin stocks

[–]ttyler 0 points1 point ago*

I am personally investing 1k into facebook on the first day, with the intention of shorting the stock. I just don't have the confidence in the market, and the company, to be invested in it for the long term.

Edit: There are also a lot of people expecting the stock to sink right away, its a gamble. Invest the amount you feel comfortable losing if the stock does plummet.

It's possible, however, the stock is going to rise right from the onset (I assume). It has been reported that the stock will open at $30-$40 (it was trading at ~$40 privately before the IPO process forced a stop to the private trades). If it will open at that price I am not sure, but I am under the impression the share price will escalate upwards quickly after initial trading, whatever the release price will be.

Getting back into flipping! by Jufjufjufin knives

I wouldn't want to be caught ordering in a restricted weapon. I would think it would be equivalent as trying to mail a hand gun into Canada (at least legally I imagine).

Inside the audacious, high-tech world of Canadian debit card fraud by soopakin canada

[–]ttyler 4 points5 points ago*

The first link only details the interception of leaked RFID signal from the use of the PayPass feature on some debit terminals. The author was able to demonstrate obtaining some confidential information resulting through the unencrypted transfer of data between the card and terminal; however, the pin was also not transmitted or captured. Although the author says the possibility of brute-forcing the pin is possible.

Edit: Still a interesting read. Thank you for the links.

I am voting Wild Rose this Provincial election. Alberta comes first.

Also, people in Alberta are apprehensive about protesting against their own jobs/economy.

Finally, this being /r/canada, I expect to be banned for this post.

Can anyone help identify these ancient coins? by laughinghyena83in coins

[–]ttyler 2 points3 points ago*

coins #1 and #4 (from the left to right) are ancient Jewish shekels. I cant really say any more than that about them. Maybe try the coin community forums.

Edit: This may help with the shekel identification: http://www.menorahcoinproject.org/h662.htm
