TROPHY CASE

  • One-Year Club

Growing up my dad bought us a dog he named Kitty, a cat named Puppy, and a parrot named Jeff. He taught Jeff how to say Puppy and Kitty's names, which would cause Kitty to freak out and bark constantly. Dad found it hilarious. What are some things your parents did that convinced you they were crazy? by Merrick_T_Thundergunin AskReddit

[–]tree_hugging_hippie 1 point2 points ago

My dad, crazy in a hilarious and awesome way.

When I was super tiny, my parents had a cow they later had slaughtered. For whatever reason, my dad had the tongue in a bucket of water outside. It was summer, and I was outdoors derping around, hanging out with my dad, when he took the tongue out of the bucket, held it close to his face, stuck out his tongue and waved it around at the cow tongue while making 'lublublub' noises. He put it back and turned around to do something, and tiny me proceeded to do the exact same thing. My mom was mortified, dad thought it was hilarious.

He's also made some fun modifications to his pickup truck. He put a wall-mounted candle sconce (complete with an actual candle) by his gas cap so he could 'find his gas cap in the dark.' He put a gun rack over the rear windows and modified some non-working rifles/shotguns. One had the barrel removed and replaced with a plunger. Another had the barrel removed and replaced with a long u-shaped pipe. This one he dubbed his 'birth control gun' to be used on any boyfriends of mine or my sisters who he disapproved of.

I'm sure I could think of others. My dad is awesome.

TIL that, because of the live-action Cat In the Hat, Dr. Seuss's estate has demanded that there can no longer be any live-action Dr. Seuss movies. by Sockmccormickin todayilearned

I have never seen the live action movie, nor do I have any interest in doing so. It seemed like some kind of blasphemy to me from the beginning.

I know people who watch that kind of crap because it's 'so bad it's funny.' I just think it's a waste of time. If I'm going to park myself on my butt in front of the tv, it's going to be for something good.

gasp You disagreed with the hivemind!

Seriously though, you're right. I dated an emotionally abusive guy for 8 years before I smartened up and left him. He then ran around telling all our friends and anyone else who would listen that I cheated on him. Thankfully no one that knew me believed him. But anyone who didn't know me probably believed him, so that makes me a heartless slut.

Baby likes to taste, not eat, food. by osenicin Mommit

He might not have completely outgrown the reflex that keeps him from swallowing anything that isn't liquid. He might have an easier time with purees.

My son was really only on purees for a couple months, then decided he would rather feed himself, so we switched to small squishy bits of things. It was a pretty easy transition.

Just keep at it, he'll get the hang of it all at his own pace.

holy hell... blizzard customer service (is incredible) by bingbongusin gaming

[–]tree_hugging_hippie 0 points1 point ago

I had to have mine removed after it got misplaced in a move. They had it removed from my account before I was even off the phone with them, and they stayed on the line to make sure I could actually log in. I've had to call them for other issues too, and I have nothing but nice things to say about them.

I've been a Blizz customer for 7 years. I have never had any issues with their customer service, nor has a single person I've ever talked to who played/plays their games. They don't need to publicize a small incident like this when pretty much all of their interactions with customers play out similarly.

As an extremely non-photogenic female, I can sympathize. There is a reason why there are pretty much no pictures of me posted anywheres.

What is your "never again" brand, item, store, or restaurant ? by radbrad7in AskReddit

[–]tree_hugging_hippie 1 point2 points ago

There was an article not too long ago (that I don't feel like looking for) that basically said Target's prices were just as good, if not better than Wal-Mart's. I haven't bought a single thing at Wal-Mart for at least 5 years now.

Mine might have a higher number on it, but then again, the last time I used it I sprained my knee doing yoga.

I just bought a 6.5 litre slow cooker but I have no idea where to start! by carrzyin Frugal

www.food.com

They have a section just for slow cooker recipes. I've found tons of great recipes on that site.

*edit - I have a fantastic crock pot jambalaya recipe I could add on here once I dig out my crock pot cookbook.

Pretty sure that's a rabbit. I've seen kittens born a few times, and they look nothing like that.

Any good books about or strongly including unicorns? by DJWhamoin Fantasy

I hadn't realized it was a 'young adult' series. I picked it up without knowing anything about it and ended up really enjoying it. Definitely a good impulse pick. I still go back and re-read it occasionally.
