I have come to LOVEEEE cottage cheese! My recent favorite lunch:

Cottage cheese, tomato bowls! - cottage cheese in tomato halves that have the insides removed, and a little bit of raw spinach shredded on top with some Sriracha chili sauce. So filling, and SO tasty!!!

That's awesome! Did you do yoga specifically for this pain?

That's awesome - I was actually thinking that perhaps back bends would help me. Thanks for the tip! My balance is definitely pretty mediocre, so I wouldn't mind working on that. I haven't branched out too much in the yoga world - I have only done vinyasa yoga. Any specific recommendations in terms of classes that I should look for?

Thanks so much for your help!

Why do you say that?

I've only done yoga intermittently, so I guess I've been trying to see if that can forego my need to go see a doctor/PT, you know?

Thanks for your thoughts! I really appreciate it! I really enjoy yoga, and will definitely take your opinions into consideration!

Additionally, I really think P90X is a good starting point for someone before the gym. Again, it depends on the personality and what your goals are. P90X actually really helped me with getting into a serious weight regimen, and I could handle doing it at home where I can go at my own pace.

It also depends on what your fitness goals are. Are you looking to increase your endurance, lose weight, gain muscle, etc...

Here's an interesting link on cardio in tandem with weights: http://www.laststopfatloss.com/cardio-before-or-after-weights

[HELP] Cardio Vs Strength Training by gnrforlifein loseit

[–]tpeaswarr 2 points3 points ago

I really enjoy both, and I am a firm believer that one helps the other. I usually start out with cardio to get my heart rate up, and then hit weights, and end with cardio again. For example, I'll do stairmaster, weights for about 30-40 minutes, and then sprint a mile at the end. I like changing it up, too...otherwise, I tend to get bored if I'm only doing weights, or only doing cardio. Just my two cents ;)

What is something you wish you knew going into your freshman year of college as a pre-med? by petereffinwigginin premed

[–]tpeaswarr 1 point2 points ago

Totally agree with this. Physics is also a lot of understanding how and why, and I wish I had known how to use all the material we learned to my advantage. Also, there were resources that I did not take advantage of until my sophomore or junior year, that I really wish I had done from the get-go like the chemistry resource center and the professor's office hours. If I could tell any freshman how to succeed, it would definitely be to maximize your time with the professor!

Has anyone else experienced something similar? by VentureIndustriesin premed

[–]tpeaswarr 1 point2 points ago

Definitely. My dad spent his last 10 months battling liver failure in hospitals. I was/am traumatized by his slow and prolonged suffering, and I always thought that I would never want to set foot in a hospital again. But I think I have found solace for my suffering from helping others, and that's why my desire to become a doctor has only intensified.

Shadowing "guideline" question by cornfedbeefin premed

[–]tpeaswarr 0 points1 point ago

I hate to sound completely unknowledgeable, but other than listing every single shadowing experience on the primary, how will it be known that an applicant put in 100 hours of shadow time? I'm actually wondering for myself because I've only shadowed one neurologist over the course of 2 years

I love Kefir - I, too, have trouble drinking much of it due to the thickness, so I usually dilute it with water.

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'm so so sorry for your situation. I'd be interested in your opinion on my situation - I'm a South Indian girl (born and raised in the US) and I have been dating my boyfriend for a little over 9 months now, and I have been too scared to let my mother know about it, as I have never been allowed to date (and don't know if I am still actually). Anyways, I don't know how I'm going to break it to my mom, as we are quite serious, and I'm worried she's going to be holding onto her ideal of "finding me a nice Tamil man." Now I have the problem of not only telling her about him, but also let her know that I have been hiding this from her for the last 9 months. I have no idea how to deal with this...thoughts??
