I agree, maybe there should be another polling of that question, minus the managers who have already come out and officially said no.

Does a new crest on the kit mean a comprehensive re-branding? Or will the current crest remain prominent throughout the stadium and as representation? by jvdbizationin LiverpoolFC

[–]tommyg_99 1 point2 points ago

This is an excellent article about the history of the Liverpool crest. According to it, we have only had green on our crest since 1999. Before that, it was all combinations of red, yellow and white. This seems to put a focus on us trying to replicate our glory days. http://www.lfchistory.net/Articles/Article/3188

Andy Carroll Song by timdawin LiverpoolFC

[–]tommyg_99 2 points3 points ago

"Sweet Caroline" is popular at sporting events. Boston's Fenway Park has played the song since at least 1997, and it has been played at every game in the middle of the eighth inning since 2002 by the influence of Amy Tobey, a production agent responsible for the audio played over the park's loudspeakers.

Australia's manager Frank Farina criticised the qualification format and questioned the need for these kind of matches. Archie Thompson, who scored a record-setting 13 goals, was delighted with his record, but he also agreed with Farina's comments. FIFA spokesman Keith Cooper agreed with both comments and suggested a change in the qualification format, with the smaller teams entering a preliminary round. However, Oceania Football Confederation chairman Basil Scarsella, opposed both comments and claimed that the smaller teams have the right to face Australia and New Zealand, similar to Australia having the rights to face stronger opponents such as Brazil and France.

"Breaking the world record is a dream come true for me; that sort of thing doesn't come along every day. But you have to look at the teams we are playing and start asking questions. We don't need to play these games." —Archie Thompson

Do you think away goals should still count after extra-time? by haboobooin soccer

[–]tommyg_99 0 points1 point ago

I'd assume if the attacker was fouled, they would be standing in the penalty area, so they could be given a one on one opportunity or penalty. At least you're testing actual tactical, individual skill rather than coolheadedness and a bit of luck.

Well the breaks between penalties are about 20-30 seconds, and the penalty itself takes 10-20 seconds. If it took 30 seconds instead, it honestly wouldn't make all that much difference. Ten 30s contests = 5m of play. Nine 30s breaks (being generous) = 4.5m of breaks. In total, could take less than 10 minutes.

Alternatives to Penalty shoot outs.

Best one in my opinion is ADG.

ADG features a series of ten contests, in which an attacker has thirty seconds to score a goal against a defender and goalkeeper. At the completion of the ten contests, the team with the most goals is the winner.

Bit late to the party here, but I once wrote short stories inspired by each of the tracks from The Incident for a senior high school project. I got permission from Lasse Hoile to use his photography throughout as well!

Andy Carrol VS Fernando Torres: The stats. by nextman6515in LiverpoolFC

[–]tommyg_99 6 points7 points ago

I wish people would stop comparing them. This kind of pressure to perform in a club completely different from the one he grew up loving and playing with is dreadful for his confidence.

The sooner as Carroll forgets about the price we paid and who he replaced, the better. All these stats say is that both of them are woefully underperforming.
