TROPHY CASE

Facebook’s first week is the worst of any IPO in 10 years by mronneyin technology

[–]thinkbox 0 points1 point ago

Facebook is pretty bad at exploiting the info for targeted ads, it also has a lot of free and appealing features. To the average user they don't feel exploited and they get a lot of great features and interaction with the largest social network in the world.

Do you use any google services?

I think it has had a serious social impact. My wife's family is very international. It used to be a long phone call every week, but Facebook has changed that.

Now they are in constant contact and almost all the family information is passed through Facebook instead of phones. More people can join in the conversation, and it is free. It isn't like you COULDNT communicate, but now people go out of their way to get access to Facebook even if they don't have a home computer. A lot has changed in these people's lives.

Yet in my family and friends it has helped share some community and photos, but it hasn't changed the way we communicate. So I think the impact has a lot to do with how you use it and how your social circles use it. (It being almost any tech)

Also, if you need explaining how FB is different from email, you are just being a ponce.

Samsung Galaxy S III Review (The Verge) by qakgobin Android

It's the advantage of supporting the devices you sell. If you can't support what you sell, then maybe you should rethink what you sell. Support is what makes you a repeat customer. If you can't support you shouldn't be in the software business.

The 3G had a multitasking restriction because it had the same processor as the original iPhone and was unable to handle iOS 4. I don't think there are any software differences in a 3Gs and an iPhone 4/s besides Siri.

Android now controls 59% of the world's smartphone market share; iOS at a distant 23% by mepperin Android

That has to do with people who have bias and grudges. They can't accept that people will have a different phone from them without being fanboys or sheep.

It's sad. They lash out and down vote. It's the only thing they can really do to make themselves feel satiated.

It doesn't make them right but it does make them feel right. After awhile they confuse the two.

It's a comparison of smartphone OSes. If you want to compare iOS include iPod Touch and iPad.

When a product has %150 growth year over year it CAN'T be because of brand loyalty. It's new customers. You don't grow that fast without something good to sell.

98% of their Devine comes from tablets and phones. The rest mostly comes from computers. ITunes doesn't even come close to that.

I would say they are a mobile company based on their revenue.

What does google do? Ads.

Yes apple might have an ad platform, but it isn't to make them money, it is to make ads in their OS look nicer. That is what they said in the keynote and they don't make much money at all from iAds.

What do you think Android is still missing? by aesamattkiin Android

You need iTunes to transfer movies and music from your computer is you didn't buy them with iTunes or use iTunes match. Also, and this is what I like to do, is play music over a loud speaker and just use the voice note feature. It's flawless.

They only make 5% off the app store. 70% goes to the devs and 25% goes to the operators and they keep 5%. With that they can barely pay hosting. They don't even really have support. Asking them to curate is just not even on their radar sadly.
