Is tribalism simply necessary for a normal, healthy, human psyche? by MadeByMonkeysin askscience

Ah I see what your saying now. I agree with that but I believe the point of America is to combine those niche groups into one country and not necessarily have them believe the same code. Which is why it makes sense to let people decide choices like abortion in my opinion at least. There are too many different types of people in this country to form these universal laws. Even if you took something smaller with more similar minded people, like reddit, it would probably be an impossibility. The only way it works if you are brought up in an area were you are taught only one way to think.

It theoretically should eliminate most of the ignorance though which creates the contempt of other cultures. Not knowing about others creates an in-group vs out-group mentality. With a solid education a person learns that a not one person is representative of a culture, so for instance not every Muslim is a terrorist is a clear one but there are more complex ones as well like you stated. Once you understand and meet these people then you come to fully understand this. This doesn't happen quickly but over time it builds. The problem is the majority of people on issues choose not to learn the real key message they just fall back on emotions because its easier than learning and changing your behavior towards others.

I think my argument is more how good is Billy Beane as a GM? I think most everyone can agree that his sabermetrics stuff works but most of the players profiled didn't work out and he passed up on a lot of guys who did work out. His ideas are solid but it hasn't translated into wins in seven years now.

Teams like Tampa, Arizona, and Cleveland had less payroll last year but were better, much better in Tampa's case. Tampa uses most of his principles but even with less money Friedman has been better.

Yeah I agree with you. I think people took his ideas and ran with them and because teams had more money they could do it better. I also a lot of his ideas didn't work like drafting only college players.

He no doubt changed baseball for the better with his ideas but if it wasn't for that he probably would be out of a job right now with the guys he has passed on and traded away.
