My Dad runs a program that uses Dogs for counseling Sexual Assault victims of both genders and making them comfortable enough to testify against their rapists in court. All he needs are votes in a contest to get services for the program. [4 Hours Left of Voting] by the_liberaltarianin MensRights

I don't know the specific studies(I can ask him in the morning), but my Dad is no rookie at this type of thing.

He was a Juvenile probation officer for ~25 years, worked at an orphanage for troubled kids with developmental problems for ~5 years, and worked as a supervisor in Victim Services for at least 10 or 15 .

I don't know if you control the youtube page, but the video says 'girls'.

That particular video is girls, but boys are also able to(and have in the past) used the dogs.

Are they in the courtroom with the accuser?

Yes, frequently.

I have read a study the it influences people into seeing that person as a victim.

I'll update this when I get a response from my Dad, but my understanding is that the defense can object if they don't want it. Success would probably depend on the court room.

Edit: I got this wrong. He won't do it in a jury trial. They don't want to take a chance on losing it at appeal. Preliminary exams and bench trials in both circuit and family court.

All that said(my opinion begins here), I don't see how the young child testifying at the sexual assault case could be seen as anything other than the victim in the first place.

One of the major problems with juvenile assault cases are that it's really easy for the accused to intimidate the child in the court room, even using simple things like direct eye contact. There's already allowances made for children because of this(like 1 way screens so the accused can "confront" his accuser, but the accuser can't see him). I don't see a dog as any different than that.

....But yes, this question was me answering. I'll get ahold of my Dad shortly and update this with his answer.

Are the services open to any sexual assault victims, or is it restricted in any way? (age, gender, etc?)

Technically it's minors under 18 (male or female), but accommodations can be made for any sexual assault survivor. He said if someone has a specific situation, they should contact him through their contact form.

blame them??

Blame them for the fact that they have to default(they elected their politicians), but respect their right to default and to 'convince' their government it is the proper course of action.

Looks like someone needs to have a road trip to Toronto. They will look real, but not like the real state's ID if that makes any sense. Obscure states are a must.

Oh yeah: And don't order online, you'll just get your money stolen.

If you're okay with Billy Joel, I'm in!

There's karaoke in Carlsbad, but I'm not sure we should resort to that.

Awkwardness is actually how we could identify people looking for the reddit group. There's nothing to be worry about. This is a very welcoming group of people.

Which "corrupted intervention" are you referring to? Repealing the Glass-Steagall Act contributed in no small part to the Great Recession under which millions are still suffering.

Pick your industry and I can pick the "corrupted intervention".

Repealing Glass-Steagall btw, was part of a misguided effort to increase home ownership by increasing how easily banks could give mortgages. They increased this ease by allowing for a market of mortgages to form - increasing the underlying value, and with that increasing the incentive to give out mortgages to lower income families. They also set interest rates with the same purpose. The concept of home ownership as a way out of poverty(mortgage payments create equity, rent doesn't) was embraced by both parties, and the money it made was embraced by the banks.

So this is just a reminder: For every problem that can be solved with increased regulation, there are several that can be solved by removing corrupted intervention. The latter is more politically palatable in this climate, and it's an absolute crime that Democrats haven't used the repeal of heavily lobbied for laws to shove "Deregulation" in the face of the Republicans.
