Good old Socialism.

On the contradiction between proletarian capitalism and socialist theory by [deleted]in socialism

[–]tesserakt -5 points-4 points ago

The possibility exists that those "poor people" are smarter than you Socialists and have a very reasoned opinion as to why they like Capitalism. Who knows, maybe they like keeping what they earn?

Yes, I'm a realist not an idealist when it comes to collectivism.

The bloody history of Communism and Socialism should not be ignored. Make all the propaganda you want, you can't erase history or reality my friend.

I'm very impressed with the smooth asthetic you've used to symbolize all flavors of socialism and communism that have cropped up throughout history. The one unifying principle they all have in common is that their people have all seen a gun barrel pointed in their face. Put a Kaloshnikov and a teenager behind that flag and you will have captured the essence of the Khmer Rouge.

The "black code" by bishopxiin TrueReddit

[–]tesserakt 0 points1 point ago

It sucks you have to pay the price for the actions of others who look just like you.

Zimmerman's actions are not okay (unless in fact it was self-defense), but until blacks stop committing a disproportionately high amount of crime, the suspicions Zimmerman had are justified.

I hope your father included that in the code.

Is it just me, or do most people on reddit not know what socialism means? by korosarumin socialism

[–]tesserakt -10 points-9 points ago

I think you're wrong. Most Socialists here don't know what Socialism is either. Their answer to any real criticism of Socialism is to explain it away with theory.

"Oh, under a Socialist regime, we would all have free healthcare and everyone would democratically decide what the best thing to do is".

That's r/socialism's idea of Socialism. What you're dealing with is people like me who point out reality.

Another problem I see quite often is the advocation for Socialism as a cheap facade for anti-Americanism. A lot of people here and especially on r/politics simply hate America for whatever reason.

Also, most Socialists tend to be very young naive college students. They learn their Socialist ideals in universities from professors who've never worked in the real world. That's why a lot of you guys tend to lose arguments against Libertarians or start spewing acrimony and profanity.

I know its frustrating, but eventually you have to entertain the notion that Socialism is incompatible with human nature. There are reasons why it fails: every. single. time.

Briefly, a socialist system rewards people with the full value of their surplus labour, rewarding all work. It does not reward a minority with the profit created by the surplus/unpaid labour of the working class. This is very basic Marxist theory.

In the ideal or textbook understanding yes, but in reality and in history, the answer is NO and its written in blood. Is an oil company worker rewarded for his labor when a socialist dictator nationalizes the refinery he worked at?

I can think of quite a few minority Socialist leaders that have done quite well for themselves by killing enough poeple to stay in power while they live luxuriously off the labor of the "working class".

Marxist theory offers you a life, that from your perspective is well endowed with the convenience of capitalist creations while Marxism in reality is so at odds with human nature, one need only take a cursory look at history to realize that Capitalism is the better alternative.

N. Koreans don't talk about the reality of Marxism for fear of losing thier lives. American leftists do if for fear of losing arguments.

[–]tesserakt -3 points-2 points ago

I think by this you mean "getting rich". Because under a socialist system, you and your loved ones would never, no matter what, be without food, clothing, shelter, education--or even work.

No ideology can save you from starvation. If this were the case, mankind would have adopted socialism long ago.

Rich people are assholes.

As a conservative on r/socialism, I can safely say there are some asshole Socialists too :)

And here I'm forced to believe that you don't know much about socialist thought

I'm not stopping you from closing your mind. On one hand, you say "boo fucking hoo" to the notion of not being able to get rich under socialism, and in the very next sentence you say that you get to keep what excess you make. What if you get rich by doing that? Free enterprise, insofar as it is a tangible expression of our ability to procreate and provide for offspring is not banned under Socialism right?

Does the Socialist government have the ability to ban hand-bags fast enough to prevent Emilda from selling 8 million of them to satisfy a random Che-print fashion craze?

63% Agree: The American Economic Model Is Broken by StandupKingsin socialism

[–]tesserakt -4 points-3 points ago

The quote I copied from the article already made that point.

My counterpoint was that Socialism doesn't reward hard work either. Does that mean I just won this argument?

Also, teachers work for the government, why are you trying to compare that to a capitalist system?

63% Agree: The American Economic Model Is Broken by StandupKingsin socialism

[–]tesserakt -17 points-16 points ago

Individuals surveyed do not agree that the prevailing paradigm facilitates equal opportunity, or that hard work and skill are rewarded

No matter how hard you work in a Socialist system, you will not be rewarded. You will never get rich. You will receive the same as everyone else, and those who do nothing will receive the same as you. Capitalism may have problems, but Socialism certainly isn't the answer.

Serious question: why exactly is socialism so bad? by Zotmasterin politics

[–]tesserakt 0 points1 point ago*

You are still thinking theoretically. What about when the ideas you have come to fruition? How will the reality be?

From my perspective, it is presumptuous to assume the "working class" will always be a lower class. At one point, they were all dependents, what happens to your model when they become investors?

Capitalism and equities markets are giving that opportunity to all people all around the world. Plenty of my "working class" coworkers own stock. How many N. Koreans or Cubans are invested beyond starvation in their jobs, company, or country?

Collectivist ideology accommodates consumers and monotonically increases the burden on producers. It is not, has never been, and will never be sustainable. Socialism is a bureaucratic hammer, but the producers are not nails, in fact, they paid for that hammer and will inevitably, as history demonstrates, gain control of the hand that weilds that hammer.

The only answer is freedom and the willingness of the individual to do the right thing.

To aggregate power in the hands of government is an irreversible act. Can you name one 600 billion dollar government agency that has been legislated out of existence? 600 billion dissappeared from our economy the day Lehman brothers went down.

Aside from your parents' basement, where do you think this idea of yours is ready for voluntary adoption?

Coersion tends to cripple love in most people.

How do you see this as a bad thing when you imagine parents voluntarily disowning their children?

I think you have a good understanding of textbook or "ideal" of communism, but you don't want to acknowledge the reality of it in practice.

You can't intelligently design an economy around animals that act in their own best interest when providing for their offspring. I mean, you could in theory, but not everyone wants to follow your plan and force becomes necessary. When the inflexibility of your ideology can't accommodate reality, your theoretical understanding of things becomes immaterial.

Serious question: why exactly is socialism so bad? by Zotmasterin politics

[–]tesserakt 0 points1 point ago

Just cause they're not ideal utopias doesn't mean they're not communist states.

In fact, they are realistic communist states as human beings will invariably fight against communism a dictatorship becomes necessary. So not only are they communist by my, Marx, and their own definitions, they are perfect examples of mature communist states.

I'm sorry they don't make you proud, but they are the invariable result of communism. Human beings are not designed to be an ant colony.

During the process of wiping out 25% of the population of Cambodia the Khmer Rouge attempted to ban family relations.

If they had to use the threat of murder to institute your idea, what makes you think that people will decide on their own?
