This is the best advice. You're giving yourself one more thing to worry about.

It's Romney vs. Paul in Maine - Gingrich campaign is "nonexistent, just no presence whatsoever” by almodozoin 2012Elections

[–]sunsunsun 1 point2 points ago

Maine Republicans say it’s a two-man race between Paul and Romney, one Romney is likely to win even though he has not yet personally visited the state in this presidential race.

Doesn't say much for the feasibility for Ron Paul to win the nomination, does it? Especially considering that Paul does better in caucus states. It'll be interesting to see if he can pull off the upset, but I'm not exactly holding my breath.

Mr. Quiggly predicted the Super Bowl... (xpost) by 3magdnimin sports

This is an excellent way of phrasing it. Allowing him to score could very well have changed the outcome of the game, and considering how close the Patriots were to coming down with the football in the final Hail Mary it almost did.

The entire third verse of Lost In The Flood.

Eighth Avenue sailors in satin shirts whisper in the air
Some storefront incarnation of Maria, she's puttin' on me the stare
And Bronx's best apostle stands with his hand on his own hardware
Everything stops, you hear five quick shots, the cops come up for air
And now the whiz-bang gang from uptown, they're shootin' up the street
And that cat from the Bronx starts lettin' loose, but he gets blown right off his feet
And some kid comes blastin' 'round the corner, but a cop puts him right away
He lays on the street holding his leg, screaming something in Spanish, still breathing when I walked away
And somebody said, "Hey man, did you see that? His body hit the street with such a beautiful thud"
I wonder what the dude was sayin', or was he just lost in the flood?

Rosalita is such a jam. Every time I hear it, especially live versions, it just seems like Bruce is having so much fun. Just pure explosive passion.

Well if that's what you look for then that's fine and dandy, but he said he doesn't care about the issue because he believes there's no place for it in politics.

Of course evolution has a place in politics. There are political battles fought over evolution's place in school curriculum all the time. However, I don't believe that it does on a federal level. I already said that I gave him a pass on that.

I don't expect random people on the internet to know about art. I don't expect them to know about evolution either, for that matter. But I do expect a Presidential candidate to accept the scientific evidence for evolution, because that shows a baseline of scientific literacy and critical thinking that I require of the President.

Sorry, but not being introduced to evolution is no excuse. You can't get through a general biology class without coverage of it. To think that a doctor, even an experience-oriented one, never encountered the subject at all is plainly silly.

And claiming that global warming is a property rights issue - how would this work logistically. Okay, so I'm a farmer and my crop is severely harmed by general rises in temperature. I want to seek financial compensation for my losses. Who would I sue? Would I sue every single business that releases any kind of ozone-depleting substances? Sorry, we might just have a difference of opinion on this one, but I genuinely fear a country in which environmental issues are completely deregulated with the expectation that a free market would regulate itself. I'm not sure that you have actually thought this position through.

NEVADA: Ron Paul Delegate Refused Entrance at Gingrich sponsored Jewish Caucaus by jstagurlin ronpaul

Okay, as long as you recognize that all that had absolutely nothing to do with what actually happened.

NEVADA: Ron Paul Delegate Refused Entrance at Gingrich sponsored Jewish Caucaus by jstagurlin ronpaul

[–]sunsunsun 10 points11 points ago

Yeah, sad truth is that you might just be able to. This was a caucus held by the Republican party, and it was one to specifically accomodate the religious beliefs of observant Jews and Seventh Day Adventists who could not attend caucuses earlier in the day due to observation of the Sabbath. In order to gain access into the caucus, attendees had to sign an affidavat that said that they did not participate in previous caucuses and that they did not do so because of religious observation. He was unwilling to sign this affidavit because he had attended a caucus earlier in the day. Just saying, this video lacks context (and is possibly specifically edited to do so), and there was wrongdoing on both sides.

Ugh. Actually, it has nothing to do with ethnicity and everything to do with religion - or specifically religious observation. This was a special caucus held later in the day to accomodate Seventh Day Adventists and Jews who observe Sabbath (which ended Saturday at sundown. Here is the CNN video which provides the context that this thread sorely lacks.

He was refused entry because he had already voted. That specific caucus was intended for observant Jews and Seventh Day Adventists who were unable to vote in caucuses earlier in the day due to observation of the Sabbath. Participants at this caucus were required to sign an affidavit that they had not voted yet in the day, and that they did not do so for religious reasons. He had already attended a caucus earlier in the day, and was thus not allowed in the caucus.

Want to start drinking GOOD beer. Have no idea where to even start. Looking for recommendations. by focusingin beer

[–]sunsunsun 6 points7 points ago

Not anything against you OP, but this question is asked on average once a week.

If it's possible, go to a beer bar and try a flight of beers and try to figure out what you like from there. The key to finding your favorite beer is to try lots of different styles, and a flight of beers would be a good way of doing that.

If you're still working your way up to darker beers, Here are some less malty beers/styles that are both quite good and many new beer drinkers enjoy: I would try Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, a Hefe off of this list (because some of them will be difficult to find, but they're all good), an IPA such as any of the following: Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA, Bells Two Hearted, Stone IPA, or Sierra Nevada Torpedo... and a Witbier like Hoegaarden.

Ron Paul responds to Reddit - 5 Part Series by spunkyenigmain ronpaul

[–]sunsunsun 2 points3 points ago

Just because someone hasn't taken the time to educate or make a decision about a specific topic doesn't not prove they are unwilling to objectively look at a situation.

If the issue is truely that Ron Paul is not educated enough to have a solid position on evolution or global warming, his response needs to be "I'm sorry, I do not think that I am qualified to weigh in on that specific position. I'll look into it and get back to you when I have more information about this". But really, I learned about evolution in 6th grade and encountered it often throughout my education, and I'm not a medical doctor. It's unacceptable, in my opinion, for a candidate for POTUS to be as ignorant as Ron Paul has shown himself to be on an issue of fundamental scientific fact that no one gets through high school without learning about. And don't think that I'm singling out Ron Paul - denial of evolution and global warming is just about de facto Republican position.

And as for global warming, it absolutely should be politicized! Global warming has real-world effects that require policy on a federal level to address. It is a political issue that has political ramifications, and I believe that Ron Paul's ability to govern is hindered by his unwillingness to accept its reality.

Also Super Liquor IV (State St. by 94-ish) is good for new stuff, Plum Market is fantastic for foreign stuff but they usually have a really nice selection of American craft beer, and Wolverine is right around the corner from Plum Market, I've personally had luck with them.

The mythical stores do exist. They're closer to Bengal Tigers than Dodos as far as extinction goes, so you need to hunt them down, but there's a lot of liquor stores in the A2 area that aren't major stops for beer hunters but still pick up major releases such as Hopslam. There's a liquor store on Stadium and Packard that was selling single bottles when I checked 2 days ago, and while I was in there I picked up the last of their Backwoods Bastard (which everyone claims sold out a solid month ago).
