TROPHY CASE

Figured this out about a half-hour ago. by stuckinbed42in madisonwi

[–]stuckinbed42[S] 1 point2 points ago

Amen. I live on South Broom, so it was the very end of the race ... I was supposed to leave the house at 8:30 but couldn't even get past my porch for a good 15 minutes because of the swarm of runners. I have nothing against the race or the runners, but it would've been nice...

A) to be able to sleep past 8 after a really stressful couple of days and B) for the city to inform residents better about how the area will be affected ... I can imagine that a lot of people who had to work today got stuck. I'd be pretty pissed if I had to drive to work; there's no way anyone could've pulled out from my driveway.

Try a visit to r/getmotivated. Usually does the trick for me.

Hey Reddit I'm pretty damn depressed. Tell me when everything worked out for you, no matter how small. by Ballingerin AskReddit

[–]stuckinbed42 0 points1 point ago

There's no one moment where everything is magically okay again. Gradually, slowly, painfully, day by day, new normals emerge and coping gets easier. In the meantime, check out r/depression, r/getting_over_it and r/getmotivated for support. They help me in times of loneliness. Best of luck.

Working out: is it really worth it? (i.e., does it get you laid?) by AnnoyingMovieQuoterin AskReddit

Woman here, I can vouch for that.

22 year old dude without health insurance (USA), quite depressed and wondering where to go in terms of free/cheap options? I would much prefer person to person interaction.... Any and all help would greatly appreciated by MrPortmanin AskReddit

Try going here. It will be a long and maybe frustrating process to find someone you like that's in your pay range, but it's worth it. I found a therapist through there and once we met, she told me I could pay sliding scale and only charged me $20/hour for the months that I saw her, I never went through insurance or anything. Best of luck.

Women: Do you enjoy arguing with your boyfriends? by Holden_Caulfield1951in AskReddit

[–]stuckinbed42 0 points1 point ago

I'm a woman, but, no. In my last relationship, my boyfriend was the one to pick incredibly stupid fights--if we disagreed on a movie, if we disagreed on trivial policies that had nothing to do with our lives, etc. I hated it, told him I hated it, he said he loved doing it even though I hated it because "relationships should be about people challenging each other." It did not last.

EDIT: Just saw OP's username. Massive eye roll.

If you write in the internet and get paid, I need your advice! by Pigletoidin AskReddit

$25 for 3000 words?? Not cool. I'm trying to get my foot in the door for freelancing, and this is what I've been directed to for rates. Also I use Writer's Market to look for pubs to see what they pay.

What would your first reaction be if you woke up and found out the last 5 years of your life were a dream? by NoRedStonein AskReddit

[–]stuckinbed42 0 points1 point ago

I would honestly not be all that surprised, because in the past year, as a reaction to trauma, I've lived through days multiple times due to being stuck in different layers of dreams. The most I've ever counted is seven layers. Two nights ago I was stuck in the second layer and then my teeth started falling out (my sign to let me know I'm dreaming), finally got back to the first layer and finally woke myself up ... anyway, I digress.

My reaction would be "THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE."

What's a weird thing you do regularly (preferably non-sexual) that you can't just tell other people? by YouKnowHerin AskReddit

I live alone in a fairly big apartment, but I like to eat under the kitchen table. It's right next to a heating vent and it feels like I'm in a fort or something.

Nice! I don't have video, but I recorded the whole thing (including the Q&As) with my Zoom h4n recorder if anyone wants audio.

I'm graduating college in two weeks with three majors and honors, which I somehow accomplished while battling PTSD from an abusive relationship. Also, for being a skinny white lady, I'm kind of a badass saxophone player.

I was an Intern at The Daily Show, AMA by DarnJester99in IAmA

[–]stuckinbed42 0 points1 point ago

My questions are kind of more logistical...I have a friend who is interning for the show right now so I'm also asking her, but would love your perspective too--I'm thinking about applying but am terrified of being swallowed whole financially with the whole unpaid aspect.

Did your parents financially support you through the semester? If not, how did you make ends meet?

I finally found the study you're referring to, though you didn't credit your source. I also found that the standard deviation for an IQ test is 10 or 15 points, so your argument is null.

Ok, "things like facts" ? Then where's your source for that information?

All I could find was this, which says:

"According to research by Professor Adrian Furnham, of University College London, men overstate their intelligence while women underplay theirs. In looking at 25 studies of sex differences in IQ, he found that women on average predict their IQ score will be five points lower than men do."

Maybe women have superior vocabulary-related intelligence for words like "predict," so I'll explain this to you: It means that women think they'll do five points lower than men do, but it doesn't mean that those are the results.
