Bank Profits Hit 5-Year High by klmdin news

[–]stringerbell 3 points4 points ago

Interesting that you would use that time-period (and not say 10 years, or 7 years, or 20)! Let's see, did something happen roughly five years ago that would skew your point? Something monumental that had a horriffic effect on bank profits?...

What positions are good for a girl with a guy that's [ahem] a little less endowed? by anon1950in sex

[–]stringerbell -6 points-5 points ago

If you're less than well-endowed, I'm afraid there's only one clinically-proven position that's guaranteed to get her off: you have to position her on her stomach, and here's the really important part, you have to prop her pelvis up in order to gain the correct angle of attack, and you do that with the use of humongous piles of cash...

Christine Lagarde, said she has more sympathy for children deprived of decent schooling in sub-Saharan Africa than for many of those facing poverty in Athens by touringcavin Economics

[–]stringerbell -15 points-14 points ago

You've obviously never been to sub-Saharan Africa!...

EDIT: OK, go to sub-Saharan Africa - by yourself - and try and teach them facts, such as the fact that God does not exist. How long do you think it will be before you're burned alive by the entire village? Hours? Days? Definitely not weeks or months...

Give the children in Athens money - and they'll now have a good life.

Give the children in sub-Saharan Africa schools - and they'll turn them into machete rape-huts.

When will the rest of Canada realize that the stuff going on in Quebec isn't about a $325 tuition hike or being spoiled? by kylemacmacin canada

[–]stringerbell 18 points19 points ago

Well, this might go a long way to explain it...

In Vancouver, when the Occupy movement was in full swing, and people were packing the Art Gallery with protestors... The leaders of the movement released a list of 'demands'.

Now, I'm actually sympathetic to the movement, however...

That list was the most naive thing you've ever seen. It called for sweeping changes to the financial industry - and was obviously written by someone who had absolutely no understanding of how those markets worked. They demanded double-taxation. They demanded things that would cripple people on a fixed-income. They demanded things that would immediately crash the world's economy (thereby making everything a thousand times worse). Their 'demands' were truly laughable. Just ridiculous and completely uninformed. Showing no understanding of the issues involved whatsoever.

And, that was from their leadership...

It's hard not to think of someone as spoiled - when they make demands about things they know nothing about! That's actually pretty much the very definition of spoiled.

Frack-Friendly New Report Debunked by anutensilin Green

[–]stringerbell -3 points-2 points ago

Every single article posted to r/green or r/environment about fracking is just chock-full of lies!

Here, to prove it, I'll go and find the first lie for you...

The first paragraph didn't really contain any factual statements other than background, so let's look at paragraph two...

Don't have to look far, as this is the first sentence:

Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is the process by which a blast of chemicals, water, and sand are used to tap into natural gas reserves.

While technically true, this sentences is intentionally misleading. It's constructed to give the reader the impression that certain (untrue) things are facts.

For instance, did they mention that hydraulic-fracturing is done with 99% water? No, they said it was done with 'chemicals, water and sand'. In order to give you the (erroneous) opinion that fracking uses copious amounts of dangerous chemicals.

I could go on (the following paragraphs include all sorts of manipulative and dishonest reporting)...

TIL that 18 U.S. military veterans commit suicide everyday. by jebus5434in todayilearned

[–]stringerbell 0 points1 point ago

That shit happens all over the world all the time. Yet, the US never, ever invades to protect the innocent locals - with one exception: if they have oil... Did the US invade to protect East Timor (at roughly the same time)? No. But, they did protect the Kuwaitis. What's the difference between Kuwait and East Timor? Both were getting 'the shit raped out of them'. But, the Timorese didn't have oil. The Kuwaitis did. So, they got American protection, and the Timorese got raped. Literally...

Let's see...

Vietnam - Lied your way into it. Justification: Stop the people from voting communist & enrich the military-industrial complex.

Iraq I - Justification: They're stealing our friends' oil (which is rightfully ours to steal)!!! Oh yeah, and to enrich the military-industrial complex.

Afghanistan/Iraq II - Lied your way into it. Justification: Revenge, Enrichment & Stealing oil.

And, you wonder why your veterans are killing themselves in such large numbers?...

Alain Vigneault Confirms Luongo Wants Out by Xcheckedin canucks

[–]stringerbell -9 points-8 points ago

What a fucking Prima Donna!

Everyone forgets how badly Luongo's treated this team over the years...:

  1. Remember how he held out the first time we signed him?
  2. Remember how he forced us to pay him humongous dollars the second time? Both times threatening to go elsewhere.
  3. Remember how his wife wouldn't move to Vancouver (and still hasn't)?
  4. Remember how Corey S. waited patiently for years behind Luongo - while Luongo forced the team to play him 70+ games a year?
  5. And, remember how, Luongo asked for a trade when he had to play behind Corey for only 3 total games in his entire career? Three freaking games???? Three freaking games - and all of a sudden, he needs out???

For someone with an ego that outsized, you'd think he'd play better when everything's on the line...

Native Americans Struggle With High Rate of Rape by thecopofidin news

[–]stringerbell 3 points4 points ago

The thing they never tell you in articles such as this...

Almost every reservation I've ever been on (and I've been to MANY) gives all their residents huge piles of cash. It's not uncommon for Natives to get $100,000 to $250,000 on their 18th birthday. Tax free. Others get tens of thousands of dollars a year for free. Most get their houses given to them from the tribe. Yes, free real estate. On top of free income. On top of a free balloon-payment.

Yet, despite all that free money, the reservations all look like war-zones. And, they're all filled to the brim with drugs and alcohol.

Oh please! What rape victims don't get taken seriously????

I've never seen a story in the press about a woman who was raped - and then ignored by the cops. But, almost every day I see a story where a woman wasn't actually raped, went to the cops anyways, and had a guy arrested with no actual corroborating evidence whatsoever...

If anything, supposed rape victims are taken far too seriously...

Today my girlfriend told me that she would never have kids with a guy with tattoos because she doesn't want her kids born with the tattoos of the father, as if they were passed genetically. I have a problem with the fact that he's biased! And, as I mentioned, there is no proof the jews were kept as slaves - so if he's saying the opposite, he's not just biased, but a liar as well...

And, if there was actual proof that the Egyptians kept the Jews as slaves, why don't you just post it? A lecture isn't proof of anything (other than one man's opinion).

Right, because it doesn't exist.

If I said the Earth is round - would a lecture by a Flat-Earther be 'proof' that the Earth is flat????
