House Approves US Force Against Iran by stonedunicornsin politics

[–]stonedunicorns[S] 0 points1 point ago

His personal stance is anti-abortion but he also believes in states rights so its up to the state whether or not abortion is legal. States rights are a good thing, if you want gay marriage, abortion, legal and regulated marijuana the federal government wouldn't interfere. Why do we need such centralized power? That leads to tyranny. And he wants corporations out of politics which is thing most of us see as a good thing unless you're a wall street fat cat.

I support Ron Paul and I just so happen to be liberal, not all libs are Obama fanatics and not all of us are blinded by the democratic party's bullshit (see my reply to chicofaraby)

I'm really left leaning, but it just so happens I prefer Ron Paul to Obama because of his stances on issues poli_ticks has raised. From the standpoint of war and civil liberties Ron Paul is far more liberal than Obama. And you know what? Paul thinks corporations are not people<----pretty fucking important.

Research is showing that psychedelics have the ability to reduce depression and anxiety, and produce lasting results. This article from Brain Blogger takes a look at recent studies and examines the history surrounding psychedelic research. by MAPSPsychedelicin Drugs

[–]stonedunicorns 1 point2 points ago

More studies need to be done regarding psychedelics and mental illness. Do psychedelic drugs really exacerbate mental illness if they also can reduce depression and anxiety? I'm no doctor or psychologist but my theory is that it really depends upon the user and the experience you have while you are under the influence. This is a big concern for psychedelic drug users who also suffer from manic-depression, anxiety, unipolar depression, etc.

Lacing weed with heroin on the other hand is much more profitable. An ounce of heroin is a mere $20. In my friend's hometown this is quite popular actually. Scumbag dealers would sprinkle in some h in their bud to get dumb kids coming back for more.

I found out yesterday that my dispensary has been shut down by the Federal government. by ahydellin eldertrees

[–]stonedunicorns 1 point2 points ago

A few weeks ago the house voted on an amendment to a bill that would not allow the President to use Justice department funds for shutting down dispensaries that obey state laws. The vote did not pass unfortunately but hopefully this issue will be brought up again in congress. Your best bet is to write to your congressmen/women about your dilemma and ask them to condemn Obama's actions. A personal letter always gets your point across better than just stating facts. I wrote to my state senators and assemblymen/women asking them to support any medical marijuana legislation in New York state. I too suffer from bipolar disorder and I would like to be able to legally use cannabis as a medicine as opposed to buying it illegally and risking arrest or taking mood stabilizers with crazy side-effects.

Exorcism-like reaction to being woken up? by Aplabosin eldertrees

[–]stonedunicorns 1 point2 points ago

It might have something to do with the K2, that stuff is horrible for you. They're synthetic cannabinoids made in a lab, they don't resemble any natural cannabinoids. That's what makes them so dangerous, because cannabinoids regulate everything from appetite to body temperature.

I'm not denying that there would be still huge demands for tylenol and chemotherapy, I just think that big pharma wouldn't want to take any chances. Also, I didn't mean to imply that they are purposely imprisoning people based on race, I was only pointing out that it happens more often to people of color.

Edit: You are right, I was generalizing all Republicans. I believe that there is definitely a schism within the Republican party where there are civil libertarians that push for state rights (i.e. Ron Paul) but there are others that don't believe in any of that.

Discussion time: Who has more power, the Executive or Congress? by nick27545in politics

[–]stonedunicorns 1 point2 points ago

I said that theoretically no branch should have more power than the other but you are correct when you say that the President's position has gained more power over the course of American history. The very first example I can think of is Andrew Jackson and the Supreme Court case of Worcester v. Georgia. I believe that the SCOTUS had ruled that the Cherokee nation had some sovereignty and therefore their affairs must be handled by federal gov't as opposed to the state of Georgia and Andrew Jackson ignored this stating "Justice Marshall has made his decision, now he must enforce it."
