I'm using a Pelican 1300 for mine, though I'm only up to around 10 knives.
Do all of you max out your 401k and IRA? If not, why not? by Software_Engineerin investing
[–]steeef 2 points3 points4 points 19 days ago
I'm not, mostly because my employer doesn't match and the selection of funds is pretty crappy. Now that I've built up a decent emergency fund, I'm considering putting more into it. The tax-free part is enticing, but I feel like I could find better funds on my own.
Where can i get Cherry MX Red Switches seperatly? by FEDT_MAN_SPAin hardware

Check Mouser, that's where I got mine. Make sure you order the right kind. There's plate-mounted and PCB-mounted to choose from.

Yeah, I'm going to take a break buying new knives for a while. It feels like I've already found the holy grail.
I got more money for my birthday than I was expecting, so I decided to splurge. It's expensive, but for Elmax steel, the nice blade shape, and the feel and weight in my hand, it was worth it.
The ZT via KershawGuy, and the Blur from Amazon.

Top is a Zero Tolerance 0560, bottom is a Kershaw Blur S30V. The ZT is perfect, I'll carry it around everywhere. It does look a little scary when I flip it open though. Huge knife!

Another vote for iTap. Dead-simple to use, no problems with keyboard shortcuts, disconnections, nothing.

I've got something similar, but it's a Wiha: http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B002PJ3IYE?tag=adapas02-20
Very easy to carry it around.
Benchmade Mini Ritter Grip with Cuscadi scales by steeefin knives
[–]steeef[S] 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago
€70, plus 10 for shipping, or about $107 total. Doubles the original cost, but I love this blade, so it was worth it for me.
Heh, yup.
I love the blade shape, and these scales make it that much more grippy.
Great! Took a bit of work to get the liner in there, but it's a snug fit.
I've had the Ritter mini grip for a while, but I never liked the plasticky scales it came with. Just got this in the other day. Beautiful color.

Benchmade fans, what are your favorite models? by Dr_Stephen_Colbertin knives
[–]steeef 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago
I've got the 556, 710 (in m390 steel), 740, and the mini and large Ritter Griptilians. I have to say that the mini Ritter is my favorite blade, though I wish the stock scales were better. I'm waiting on replacement G10 scales from Cuscadi, which should make it an even better EDC.
What's the most used open source help desk ticket system out there? by DiarrheaIsTheShitin sysadmin
[–]steeef 3 points4 points5 points 3 months ago
Ads, third-party plugins, selling your data to other companies. Spiceworks is a nice all-in-one, but if you're at all paranoid about someone else having access to your hardware/software inventory (anonymized, though), find something else.
LustyExplorer or similar on windows? by thropein vim
[–]steeef 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago
Depends on the directory size. Large projects will take longer to search, but that's the trade-off. To me it's more important to have a plugin that works everywhere without dependencies or extra setup steps. If you only have one or two machines on which you run vim, Command-T might be a better fit.
[–]steeef 2 points3 points4 points 3 months ago
Ctrlp is great. Prior to using it, I'd have to compile Command-T on each machine (which often meant futzing with ruby first).

Once you've gotten used to moving around in Vim, try Lokaltog's EasyMotion plugin. Makes it super easy to look at where you want to go and go there, and even delete/replace text up to a specific word (for example).
Can't decide. Spyderco Military or BM 710 by matthabitatin knives
Sorry to give you yet another option, but have you looked at the BM 710-2 in m390 steel? I just bought this and it's a very nice knife with steel that should hold an edge even longer than s30v.
Relative line numbers in Vim for super-fast movement by jkreeftmeijerin vim
I've found that with EasyMotion I don't really need relative line numbers, "set number" does just fine.
Let's share our vim config file, mine its pretty simple, any recommendations? by chuck_in vim
Seconding the vundle recommendation. I was using a separate script to manage Pathogen-loaded bundles as git submodules, but vundle takes care of all of that for you.
Steve's vimrc reads like a book, though. You can see where he's remapped things when he figures out how to simplify a command, or change mappings to suit his usage style.
There's definitely a lot of nice tweaks that I've adopted in my own vimrc.
