Leaded gasoline was shown to have harmful effects on the environment and was banned. These new bulbs do have a fair amount of mercury that you're going to introduce into every house and living space in America. Can I opt out of these bulbs? Oh, and I love using incandescent bulbs as heaters. Light and heat, nice combo sometimes.

Opera uses Ctrl-Z as the undo just like most programs. Why invent new keyboard shortcuts?

Theoretically... would it be possible for Ron Paul to create a "No future executive order" executive order by TheTranscendent1in ronpaul

[–]spunkyenigma 2 points3 points ago

Executive orders are already currently restricted to what the Executive branch has power over.

Removing Executive Orders isn't the real goal, it should be reigning in the power of the executive in the first place.

Executive orders are how the President instructs the bureaucracy to do everything that isn't explicitly codified into law. Many acts of congress give broad power to the executive and it's up to the executive and his/her orders to actually implement the process and procedure.

Ron Paul inserts pork for his district in House bills, but then votes against them - how does that work? by cromulenticularin ronpaul

[–]spunkyenigma 2 points3 points ago

He understands that part, the question he's posing is why do the other Representatives allow his ammendments into the bill in the first place? What horse trading is happening to allow it?

So this happened at the mall today. by BuffNStuffin pics

[–]spunkyenigma 0 points1 point ago

Ha, I saw that happen once at a mall and I had just got baked. Took a second to realize that cars don't normally drip fire from under the engine. Ran over, called 911, watched it burn to the ground. Went to movie, came back, FD was still there waiting for the owner to show up.

Did a rare 'supermoon' sink the Titanic? by Redbeardyin space

[–]spunkyenigma 5 points6 points ago

Full and new moons are directly in a line with the Earth and Sun which causes bigger tides regardless. If it was at perihelion it's even bigger. Phase of moon very much matters when it comes to tides. These are known as spring tides.

Huff Post compares the Dow Jones Industrial Average to Gold, Silver and Oil by spunkyenigmain ronpaul

[–]spunkyenigma[S] 1 point2 points ago

The article itself I think is a very well laid out description of the facts and historical relationships between these 4 commodities. Paul gets a mention, but it's not about him.

Don't read the comments on that article though, it'll make your head explode with some seriously bad understanding of economics.

It appears to only apply to persons, events, or buildings protected by the Secret Service.

They're trawling looking for the long haul. Either you have to be just a few minutes ride, or 20+. The short rides mean they can do a quick turnaround and catch one last fare. The long fare is a lot of times their make or break money for the night.
