Skill levels according to 1v1 obs snobs. by Cat_Recipesin starcraft

[–]spidermoy007 1 point2 points ago

If you are top 40% then that means exactly that. You are better than 60% of the people who play Starcraft. I don't what it is with this subreddit and raising the bar of "acceptable" skill. Especially when your league is dependent on how well other players are. We can't all be fucking grandmasters. If we all just played and practice this game nonstop we'd still have our bronze and silver being treated like idiots in the game even though they've played for hours.

I'm a bronze and I've been playing for some time now. I am pretty sure I deserve to be in this league and that there are many players far better then me. That being said, it's fucking annoying when people claim that I don't know shit about the game. I know my weak spots and try to improve on them. And I know that I am a lot better than someone who has never played starcraft. The amount of effort I've put out in watching streams, memorizing build orders, and every units strength/counter makes me a lot better then someone who has zero experience in the game.

So no, Starcraft is not easy. It's just that the skill ceiling is so high up there that I doubt anyone has ever been able to play the perfect Starcraft game. Getting better then the 60% of the players is pretty admirable and should be respected.

PS: I'm all for esports, even tho I've never found it as entertaining as actually playing. But if this subreddit is gonna be used for promoting it, then people should also be careful not to become critical snobs and criticize (unconstructively) those of us who actually like playing the game and aren't being paid to do it.

God is supposed to be incorruptible and hold infinite wisdom. If this were true then he would have no problem governing.

As for us making progress, thats pretty debatable

Because the subject of this debate is whether religion brings more harm than good. People tend to blame religion for oppression but then wont acknowledge its benefits because "we could do that anyways"

Religion is also not needed to oppress the freedoms of people

And if Christianity was true then you'd believe God created everything therefore he rightfully deserves the right to be worshipped and obeyed. You also gotta realize why God didn't just destroy Satan when he rebelled. According the bible, the world today is run under the devil's influence, therefore the reason why humanity is so fucked up is because of the devil. God is making a point that humankind is not capable of governing themselves and reaching a perfect utopia.

These aren't my views, but its a really interesting question the bible poses and if people are gonna discuss about it, they should be more informed about what the bible says

But you know they aren't... God wouln't fall under the same flaws humans do. And the government would be judged on how happy its citizens were. If everything was perfect for everyone then it would truly be an honest society

The Ideal Government by 357Magnumin atheism

[–]spidermoy007 -3 points-2 points ago

Well the biggest issue is that compares God's law to a government. God is supposedly perfect so we shouldn't have any problems being ruled by him, unlike a human government which isn't.

Obviously you would be miserable if your gay, but otherwise it theoretically would be a perfect government

You can't follow the bible teachings without interpreting it somehow. People will always have a disagreement over what the bible really means but that doesn't mean they are only choosing to follow certain rules because its easier for them. It could be because they genuinely believe that that is what the bible says

God never asked his people to ban gay marriage.

God disapproves a lot of people but ultimately he is the one that supposed to deal with them not others. Following the bible and being for same-sex marriage isn't a contradiction

Exactly. All sides should require the same amount of micro depending on their skill level. It really sucks when protoss gets their deathball moving and all they have to do is pretty much A-move. And the only way to counter that is with amazing micro skills. Or just early pressure. But so far I have trouble fighting protoss with either race once it moves on to late game

Fundies attacking one of their more tolerant peers. by cysc83in atheism

[–]spidermoy007 1 point2 points ago

I see what you mean. As science keeps progressing its obvious that some incompatibles may rise in certain things. What I was referring was when people speak in absolutes. Religion and science can work together just as long as religion doesn't try to contradict scientific facts with their unsupported ideas.

There are people who wont believe anything until its proven and that makes sense. But then there are those that choose to believe things have not yet been proven (nor disproven) and I can see how one can benefit from that. But then there are those who believe in things that are just flat out false and already have many scientific facts going against them. These are the people that cause problems and hold back society from moving forward

EDIT: typo

Its not that uncommon. Its just that the irrational ones are the most vocal. It's really sad seeing many people in this subreddit generalize religious people this way

But you still making it seem like there are only two choices. One can choose to have faith over something but if science ever proves other wise then adjust your beliefs accordingly
