Is it bad to cardio and strength on the same day? by Wyrd_5in Fitness

[–]spacekillers 0 points1 point ago

No it shouldn't matter. but if you are trying to gain mass, it would be hard. But for general fitness, sure! Just look at all those MMA fighters and boxers.

Couple of questions about starting strength and bench press by CaptAmerica24in Fitness

[–]spacekillers 0 points1 point ago

For squats on SS, I like to take a 'deloading' week after about 3 weeks of squatting where I lift 50% of my max. This way I don't feel overwhelmed by squatting.

Bench Press is very hard to improve. I lift 2x my body weight for Dl and squat but barley 1x my body weight for BP. Just takes a lot of time.

When should i take my protein drink? i lift and then i do cardio. by SriLankain Fitness

from what I heard, it doesn't matter at all. Just keep your macro diet in check and you'll be good!

Neck/head pain during squats (Been doing SS since beginning of January) by azninvasion711in Fitness

[–]spacekillers -1 points0 points ago

I think it might be how you are breathing. If you hold your breathe through the rep, your head feels like it's going to explode and causes pressure in the head. Maybe this could be it. Try breathing when going down the rep.

SL5x5 total stall, hit a brick wall last night by piezoyvrin Fitness

[–]spacekillers 0 points1 point ago

Probably just a bad day. I had a bad day last week and just couldn't get anything done at my upper weight max. The next feel weeks, I got them easily. Just relax, do what you can and repeat next workout.

If you are hitting the brick every workout, scale down your weight and recycle again. I lift 3x5 300lbs for squat and I scaled down to 250lbs 3x5.

Big Four Job Security? by djw87in Accounting

[–]spacekillers 2 points3 points ago

They rarely fire anyone unless you skip work, drunk on work, don't know anything, etc. The reason why they don't fire anyone is that the job turnover rate is so high that there's no reason to fire anyone.

College cafeteria food, what to choose? Are my choices good? Also, could you take a look at my current workout? by Cooky_Monstahin Fitness

[–]spacekillers 0 points1 point ago

First of all, I think you are doing too many exercises. You are 160lbs and you want to gain mass. Just eat anything they have other there expect for fries, junk food, etc. Hamburgers, fried chicken, steak, etc are not the ideal food, but whatever it shouldn't matter if you gain some fat since you are only 160lbs.

Go buy some almonds/cashews for nuts; they are great. As for protein, buy a bunch of chicken and make oven it. And get protein shakes. As for carbs, lots of fruits and veggies, whole wheat bread, yogurt, anything else healthy.

Don't overthink it.

ELI5: Why is Africa under developed for so long? by praseodymiumin explainlikeimfive

[–]spacekillers 4 points5 points ago

While I don't have the answer, there's a great book on this. "Guns, Germs, and Steel." this book helps explain why some countries get developed and others, like Africa which was populated first, gets under-developed.

That's true. What days do you usually do your cardio? On an off-day?

What would you suggest as a good ab routine? by heretoplayin Fitness

[–]spacekillers 5 points6 points ago

I know doing compound lifts like deadlifts and squats help improve your core. Besides that, I like doing exercises on the ab wheel.

Anyone experienced taking Megabus from Christiansburg to Washington DC? by spacekillersin VirginiaTech

[–]spacekillers[S] 1 point2 points ago

Great to hear! Yeah it's around $50-60 for a ticket. Usually it's $8 (from DC to NY), but it's probably because there's a lot more customers from DC to NY so a lower rate.

Is it counterproductive to mass gain on SS and do MMA? by spacekillersin Fitness

[–]spacekillers[S] 0 points1 point ago

Ah I'm just doing MMA for a hobby and not doing any tournaments yet. I just like to learn a new skill. And I like to gain some weight just to "look better" since I'm so skinny.

But yes, strength is definitely important. I will keep doing SS, and if I'm too exhausted from MMA, I'll just won't mass gain yet
