Everybody always talks up a storm about Kid A and I feel like Radiohead's more superior foray into electronic music was Amnesiac.

This makes me sad.

As someone who had ~11 stones over the course of 2 years, I can agree with this. Although with time, the scale begins returning to a more "normal" level.

What are some of your company's dirty secrets? by solanar18in AskReddit

To be fair, it is legit in the sense that you get your temp (or temp to full) position and you do get paid. However, I just didn't like the experience. Essentially, if they don't have a job to match your skillset, they pull a stack of jobs that vaguely relate to what you requested and they attempt to pigeonhole you into anything you don't expressly refuse to take.

I ended up working at the job they placed me in for the entire contract period, and the place ended up taking me on full time (until I quit several months later), so I got my bills paid, but I've come to view RHI, and subsequently all other temp agencies, as just that: places to find temporary work.

I'd say, on the whole, you're better off doing your own job hunt. That way, when you're getting interviewed, you get to "interview" the company you're looking to work for as well. With RHI, I was interviewed, sized up, measured, tested, and had no chance to ask more than one or two questions about where they were sending me.

THEN, when I ended up "interviewing" with RHI's client, it felt more like I was starting my first day as opposed to interviewing. I ended up kind of stranded. It's almost like they told me I was going to the workplace to get interviewed and they told the client, "HERE'S YOUR NEW WORKER, ENJOY!"

Yeah, it's essentially the math... and it's not that it's too hard, but I think it would end up slowing me down because I would essentially have to reteach myself all of these mathematical concepts instead of continuing to go at programming directly.

It's definitely on the list of things I want to complete eventually, but just now right now.

Well, the guy at that blog has a background (graduated with a Masters in Information Security) as well as a vastly different lifestyle from me so there are a few things I will want to differently.

I don't agree, coming from my low level of experience, with using an IDE this early on because I really want to get a feel for the language instead of having the stuff I'm writing out get autocompleted (though don't think I didn't take note of the fact that he said he's very happy with PyCharm - I'll be looking into that down the road along with other IDEs).

And the whole week off thing is silly to me becuase I have no wife and no kids. Just a girlfriend and a few dogs and it's easy enough to get them out of the room when I need to :P

But I definitely agree with what he says about learning best practices while learning to write the code as well as learning JUST the language (I want to eventually get into Django and, although I've been tempted to start playing with it now, I'm having very little trouble keeping that urge in check).

And thanks for YOUR reference. I ran across a couple links to pyschools.com earlier in the day, but I was putting it off. I didn't realize that it was almost exactly the same as beginpython.com

Thankfully, there seems to be some variation in the questions. I'll probably get started there when I'm done with beginpython.
