Taking baby to the Caribbean. A few questions. by joispeachyin Mommit

There are stroller/pack n play/swing/toy rental services near most 4-star resorts... could save you on packing. Ask your resort concierge!

I think in the same way a boolean search is helpful... just to be more specific?

I'm not sure if fear = insecurity. There is a lot of emotional pain and suffering that went before our decision to have children this way, and regardless of how thrilled we are to have these babies, the fact that there are biological parents out there is something that we have to deal with on an emotional level. Surely you can understand that.

And I think you CAN replace biological parents - that is what we are doing. They may share these strangers' DNA, but our children's history is OUR history.

For example, when tweets mention two or more terms in the same tweet... like "obama" and "marriage" together rather than as discreet terms...?

It's awesome. I love that you can animate the time-lapse. Any way to show overlap of terms? Or am I not reading it correctly?

Sleep questions - how / when will she learn to drift off on her own? by WigglyBabyin beyondthebump

[–]smarty_skirts 0 points1 point ago

I've read that we need to set them down when they are drowsy not asleep. While this may not work right away, I've read that we are supposed to keep trying this method.

How about a Nap Nanny? Right now we have them nap on pillows, but we are looking into these as we tend to get frowns when people learn the babies are napping on pillows (but hey they are napping, and they are always in sight...)

My partner and I are each 38... So weird to wake up one day and be considered old! BTW, her pregnancy, delivery and recovery were great despite being considered an old fogey.

This is my take: Jewish culture honors and respects the arts. Huge patrons of the arts (thank god because otherwise we'd have no opera companies or symphonies, etc) and kids who want to grow up to be musicians, artists, actors, directors, designers, etc. are not ridiculed and discouraged. Just talking out my bum based on my experience in the arts.

Well, I'm not sure if the OP will deliver, but I'd be happy to chime in as a teacher. Sounds like your teenager gets distracted and may have a hard time staying on track. I'd with with her when she first starts to do her homework and make a list of tasks she is to do. She can either check in with you after accomplishing each task, or after however many you determine. You may want to start with just an English or Math list, and as she finishes each subject, create a new list for the next subject. Kids with these issues can get overwhelmed with all the things they have to do and can't see the steps required to get there.

With larger projects, you'll have to break them into smaller tasks for her. For example, 1. Choose topic 2. Find research materials 3. Create outline, etc.

If she's losing assignments, you need to get her a plastic folder or plastic envelope for completed homework assignments. All of them go in there as soon as she is done. This folder goes in the same place in her school bag each night before going to bed.

TL;DR: Make task lists with her, break large projects into chunks, give her a homework envelope.

Please complete a short research survey for women with infertility: by mm3908in infertility

[–]smarty_skirts 1 point2 points ago

I tried to take this survey, but you did not indicate you were only interested in heterosexual women. As a lesbian with infertility issues, the sections on unprotected sex did not give me an option to explain. So... I stopped the survey. You may want to clarify that you are only interested in heterosexual women. :(

Once you are ready to check out fertility centers, be sure to check their rate of success here http://www.sart.org/find_frm.html. Assisted reproduction is a science, but it's also a bit of an art. There are huge differences between success rates at different centers.

Not for most; my partner was told she could not lift them at the same time for two - three weeks. She was able to tote one in a carrier without a problem either. She opted for the c-section because she was told that there was a great chance she'd have to deliver baby b via c-section anyway (he was transverse), and recovering from both a vaginal deliver AND a c-section is a BITCH!!!

I'm a new mother with very little advice, but I was the 12 year old girl as a child. My parents had me listen to recorded books to fall asleep... that way I "read" but really I just fell asleep right away.
