TROPHY CASE

Actors that you hated, but changed your opinion because of a single film. by teegalein movies

[–]sheffy4 6 points7 points ago

I'm still not sure what to thing of him. I read an article about how he is trying to become the next big male actor, which involves him being in a thousand movies, and I just haven't seen him turn in a memorable performance yet.

But I say all this having not seen 21 Jump street, so maybe that will change my opinion of him as it did for you.

I started watching Blood Diamond and turned it off because it disturbed me so much. I've been meaning to get back to it, but I have to psych myself up first so I can handle it.

My boyfriend and I don't agree when it comes to abortion, and I'm trying to decide how I feel about that. by ireallylikebeardsin TwoXChromosomes

[–]sheffy4 36 points37 points ago

Am I overreacting?

Yes and no. You are over reacting a little since this scenario is entirely hypothetical and unlikely. But you are NOT over reacting in the sense that you have discovered a major difference in your values, and disagreeing on major values is usually a death knell for a relationship.

If you are having fun with him now, keep having fun, but also continue to be highly vigilant about your birth control use. This may be an unpopular option, but if you do get pregnant, you could still have the abortion and just keep it to yourself. Of course, this would also be a death knell for your relationship.

Dear TwoX: I have a mole. by BardLover108in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sheffy4 3 points4 points ago

I have 5 moles on my face, though smaller than yours. I was pretty self conscious about them when I was younger. In junior high my friend pointed out that they grew long, unattractive hairs, so now I pluck them religiously. Other than plucking them, I am pretty comfortable with them now. I also have a scar above my lip that gives the faint impression of a mustache. I have a chicken pox scar in the middle of my forehead that slightly looks like a key hole, so my junior high friends would sometimes refer to me as "key head." Ahh, memories. One of my upper front teeth is dead and gray from falling on some stairs when I was 11, and I had to have a root canal. My chin is almost non-existent. I still think about getting jaw surgery to see if it would fix my jaw-popping and as a side-effect give me a stronger chin. But, I've felt better about this since I discovered Jack McBrayer on 30 Rock, and they tease him about not having a chin, but he's awesome so it makes me feel better about it. :)

Reddit, What is the funniest book you ever read? by neckcreakin books

[–]sheffy4 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, this is the most recent book that cracked me up. My favorite passage involved those transparent japanese noodles.

Dad wrote this when he was 8, eerie since he passed away from lung cancer at 42 (never smoked), but I try to live by it by katscatin pics

From the mouths of babes... Reminds me of when I first started to grasp the idea of my own mortality. It was terrifying. As a kid, I had a recurring dream where I was sitting on a rug in front of a fire place, and me and the rug would get pulled into the fire. I wouldn't get burned; instead, the fire disappeared and I found myself floating upwards through the sky, passing tall mountain peaks, and in my dream I knew that this was death.

Sorry for the delay. It's about $10 or $11 I think. Very reasonable.

Mineral Makeup. by csqrdin MakeupAddiction

I don't wear face makeup very often, but when I do, I use Mineral Wear Physicians Formula Loose Powder (got it at the local CVS drug store). I love it. It gives me light coverage and surprisingly doesn't make my face flake out. Every time I use a liquid foundation (even with face primer), it draws all this attention to the flaky spots on my nose and forehead.

Which is your "guilty pleasure" film? by Gavalarin movies

[–]sheffy4 0 points1 point ago

Probably 80% of everything I watch could be considered a guilty pleasure, but I don't feel guilty about it. For instance, yesterday I watched Look Who's Talking Too and Junior back to back. It was awesome.

Redditors, what is that one foreign movie, that is not very well known, but you recommend to everyone? by WildNothingin movies

[–]sheffy4 2 points3 points ago

I used to recommend the French movie "The Dinner Game." Such a funny and touching movie. I never saw the recent American remake, "Dinner for Schmucks." It looked like they really dumbed it down, so I wasn't interested in seeing it.

Like so many other women, I know how you feel. I just had a really negative spell a few days ago, and I could feel myself spiraling down and focusing on all my shortcomings. I know from personal experience that I always feel better if I take action, no matter how small the action is. So even though I felt like curling up into a ball and feeling sorry for myself, I got up and washed the dishes that had been sitting there for two days (funny how dirty dishes can be such an emotional thing!). That way, I can at least say I did the dishes - so I'm not completely worthless! It's still hard for me to feel worth without doing some kind of action to deserve it, but for now, this works.

What to do with my wet hair? by communitychestin FancyFollicles

[–]sheffy4 0 points1 point ago

I wash my hair about an hour before I go to bed, every other day. Mainly I use a thickening product like mousse or volumizing spray, then I blow dry my bangs and roots, leaving my ends to dry the rest of the way over night. Sometimes I don't even blow dry it, and in the morning I style it with my straightening iron (a "herstyler").
