Basic plan is to add 0.5km run-by-run (with no consecutive days) until I'm at 5km, then apply the 10% rule strictly.
That's sounds prohibitively restrictive. The 10% rule doesn't really apply until you are at like 25-30 mi/week. When people get hurt and tired, it's because their WEEK has been too hard, not that any individual run was.
Good luck, and fuck that injury right between the eyes.

having an incredible girls team means you have an incredible coach. go thank your coach.
being on the team is far more important than non-runners believe. people think it's an individual effort, but without you, your teammates would've slacked off and dropped out. you get a fair share of everyone's success.

Another thing to think about is the idea of "racing into shape" that is common in high school.
You can maybe break 4:30. I would be surprised (not TOO surprised, though) if you broke it, but I would expect you to simply get close to it. If it's your last race, you'll have great competition probably. Good luck.

The magic number right there. Yesterday for some reason I felt like I was speedwalking on my run and my legs were lead. Couldn't do 50, shortened it to 35, only lost 15 min off my weekly total.
30 minutes is just enough to warm up thoroughly (~ 15 min), move around for a bit (~ 10 min), and cool down (~ 5 min).
I think I've hit a plateau...need help! by whackkin running

To OP: listen to Fran. He is wise and has told you everything you should do.
To others reading: this is EXACTLY why you run easy on easy days and you don't do too many workouts consistently. Yes, you will see minor improvements across the board and it will be very tempting to continue the overtraining lifestyle (OP could run 3 miles at 6:40/mi and feel great!), but you have to have faith in proper training and realize that you will plateau and crash if you only focus on going faster and harder every day.

yeah, rue said that to me and i was like "wtf did i just read". totally sfw though
So this one time, we had eaten morning glory seeds and after getting over the paranoia of having poisoned ourselves, we wandered out to town. The only thing I remember from early on in the night is when we had joined a queue somewhere and I had lied down on my back because I was laughing so hard, but then it got interesting.

Ran a 5k in 21 minutes w/ no training, how could i get better ? by scaldedballsin running
[–]seydar 6 points7 points8 points 13 hours ago
start training. sounds like you've done some running earlier in your life, either through soccer or other sports.
things to do: start running daily at just maybe 3 mi/day, and then increase it until you get to somewhere that actually challenges you. that'll be your baseline. then, vary your runs equaling the same weekly mileage and start moving up from there. read everything in the important education section of the FAQ. go forth and prosper. it's 3:15am here and fun fact of the day: i've had a great night. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrY8WHbvOkY

I don't think conflict alone is unhealthy
There's a sentiment I agree with, though I agree with it mostly as a knee-jerk reaction because it is a much more center opinion. I have to remember that center opinions are not always more correct.
So how would conflict resolution go on? Schools are like Batman in that they have to obey their principles (hah, almost made a pun there, I'm so clever). They are a legal entity and can't quite be run as we'd like them to be. I have no idea how schools could do conflict resolution well. What ideas do you have on the subject?
[–]seydar 0 points1 point2 points 19 hours ago
While I understand what you're saying, I think we have to remember that /r/running is about running in general, of which barefoot running is a subset. Yes, questions specifically about minimalist stuff (for those who have definitively made the switch) would probably be better posted in /r/barefootrunning, but for those who haven't made the switch /r/running provides a great generalized audience and panel.
