The best thing you can do is be supportive no matter what that means for your relationship.

She seems to have some issues that need to be worked out, whether that be through time, counseling or vision quest. I'd recommend encouraging counseling or couples counseling if that makes the idea more appealing to her.

Just some information:

Last year, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania awarded 166 people a total of $203,366.76 in compensation for these types of scams. Considering the eligibility requirements and limitation for compensation in these types of crimes (the state will only allow compensation to people on a fixed monthly income and can only compensate up to one month's total income), those are incredibly low-end figures if you're looking at the total amount lost and total amount of people affected by fraud schemes.

The majority of victims are elderly and, in a lot of those cases, their entire savings are wiped out. If you want to have a conversation that'll ruin your morning, talk to an 80+ year old whose only option is to file for bankruptcy.

I've forced everyone in my family to read this because I'd rather be a dickhead upfront than assume that they already know enough to protect themselves from this type of thing.

My heart just asploded. Unfortunately, I already have two cats from an extremely similar situation (substitute cousins for grandparents and Huntingdon county for Perry county) and I'm already being tempted by another kitten from them (apparently it's all grey except for it's paws and tail, which are orange). I refuse to even look at pictures of it because I know what will happen. Anyway, hopefully you're able to find homes for all of them!
