TROPHY CASE

All these years... by MrClockworkin harrypotter

[–]serenityveritas 0 points1 point ago

For what it's worth: "There was a rumour that Nagini was the snake Harry released from the zoo in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This was proven false, as Nagini is some type of viper while the snake in the zoo was a boa constrictor. Furthermore, the snake was given a male voice in the film, while Nagini is female." My haze sitcom memory tells me Ryan Reynolds was in it in when it was still Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place. After it was downgraded to Two Guys and a Girl I'm not sure how much longer he stayed on it. I do remember it being the first thing I saw Ryan Reynolds in though.

Edit: Oh, nope, he was in it for the whole thing.

Older generations of Reddit: What impresses you most about 'kids these days'? by ingredient_mosteroidin AskReddit

[–]serenityveritas 1 point2 points ago

Yes, I'm 26 and it feels like 21 was half a year ago. It's really freaky. I imagine at 23 you're already starting to experience the speeding up of time (or so it seems). Remember to appreciate the journey not the destination because it really does go by quicker and quicker. Though I also think it's because I'm much happier in my mid-20s than I was at around 20. :)

Dying boy gets entire Sci Fi series spoiled by the author himself, thanks to reddit and an awesome best friend by feyrathin scifi

[–]serenityveritas 15 points16 points ago

I'm friends with one of the daughters and she updated Facebook saying that her father got in touch with the guy and it was legit. That's about all I know. I'm not sure if it was just through the daughters, but that certainly seemed to help. :)

Is there a male equivalent to "likes Twilight a lot" that would be a deal breaker for many women that I could be completely oblivious to? by mulduvarin AskReddit

[–]serenityveritas 1 point2 points ago

:( My fiancé loves it. I know a lot of other normal people that play it that aren't über nerds either. And there are some really hot guys that play it too. When my fiancé was in high school he played a guy all the time who was a male model. It shouldn't be a deal breaker.

After almost a year of work, my wedding ring fits again! by Destrain loseit

[–]serenityveritas 0 points1 point ago

Congrats! That's totally awesome. I'm working on losing weight right now for similar reasons. We ordered my engagement ring to fit but since it has a fairly wide band they warned it would be "tight" but I can't wear it! It was supposed to be a 6 but it measures at a 5 3/4 but since I can get it over my knuckle I'm just waiting to lose the weight (that I want to lose before the wedding anyway, hah). Anyway, your story was really inspiring! Thanks for sharing!

Man, I had that exact costume as a kid. I'm so jealous right now. But congrats to your sister for living the dream! :)

I'm starting to think that stores have magic mirrors. by queenxlovein TrollXChromosomes

[–]serenityveritas 2 points3 points ago

Huh, I have the opposite problem. I barely buy any clothes because of it. I think I look awful in everything at the store and will usually settle for something out of necessity and by the time I wear it for real at home, I think it looks 50x better.

I was just told 'alcohol weakens glass,' by a salesman. What's the most ridiculous thing a salesman told you. by schlitz100in AskReddit

[–]serenityveritas 349 points350 points ago

Once my boyfriend and I were at Best Buy looking at HDTVs. He's been following the development of OLED screens and while we were waiting for something and chatting with the sales lady OLEDs came up. I pointed out I didn't want to wait for them to become sufficiently large enough since that would take years. The sales lady chimed in: "Also they're organic so that means they'll die."

Advice on how to talk to wife about IUD? by throwaway_iudin sex

[–]serenityveritas 0 points1 point ago

No, I never actually fainted, I just got very woozy, extremely nauseous, cold sweats, etc. So all the other symptoms but I never actually fainted. And it just felt weird, no actual pain. They did wave smelling salts under my nose though and I kept bating them away. They smelled better than I thought they would.

What were the biggest disappointments of growing up for you? by kittehstalkerin AskReddit

[–]serenityveritas 1 point2 points ago

I thought I'd magically know how all the crazy finance stuff works. Stocks, mortgages, taxes, etc. I took a personal finance class in college so I know some of it but still most of it is just mystifying to me. I thought you'd just understand it after you were older than 25. Nope. :(

Advice on how to talk to wife about IUD? by throwaway_iudin sex

[–]serenityveritas 2 points3 points ago

I have a copper IUD and I haven't had kids. They only strongly recommend you come during your period since your cervix is dilated. That's what I did. There was minimal pain, actually and I'm pain phobic. It would have been the easiest procedure in the world if it hadn't trigger the worst vasovagal response I've ever had. So, that's a risk but I'd do it again. Not having to worry about BC is the most awesome thing ever. And honestly, my periods are about the same after the first three months. First few months it was a bit more intense but only marginally. Everything since has been totally normal.

The clean up. by lollercopter2kin sex

[–]serenityveritas 0 points1 point ago

My fiancé and I have sex on a towel (no condoms, I have an IUD). We just move the towel to the hamper when we're done. No clean up :) And you can use hand towels if just having a quickie or can use a full one if you don't want to worry about staying on the towel. :)

Hey 2x - I just donated $50 to Planned Parenthood in honor of the Susan Komen Foundation. Who's with me? by lurkerbeein TwoXChromosomes

[–]serenityveritas 11 points12 points ago

I just donated $50 (saw this post right after, funnily enough!) and this was the first time I've actually donated to charity other than some sort of marathon or walk related thing for friends or myself. I did it in my Mom's name too since although she died from breast cancer she would be appalled at the Komen Foundation's decision. Planned Parenthood is near and dear to my heart (they gave me an IUD for free when I had no insurance) and I fully support them. When I'm no longer a student and am actually making money, they will be on my yearly donation list. The $50 donation was pushing it for me financially but I'm just so angry that I'll make it work this month.

I really miss my mom. by poesiein TwoXChromosomes

[–]serenityveritas 1 point2 points ago

hugs I totally understand. On February 22nd it'll be 6 years since she passed away. She was my best friend and now she'll never even meet the man I'm going to marry or help me pick out a wedding dress. I've been missing my Mom so much lately that it's painful. So OP, just know that you are NOT alone. hugshugshugs

Need help finding a new iPhone 4 case. by vexdin iphone

[–]serenityveritas 0 points1 point ago

While I still like my Defender, it is starting to fall apart so I was looking at the Lifeproof case. The only thing I'm worried about is that several reviews have commented that there's a gap between the screen protector and the actual screen so you really have to push down to use it. Have you found that to be true?

Is there such thing as planning *too* early? by nic5483in weddingplanning

[–]serenityveritas 0 points1 point ago

Nope, I don't think there's an issue at all. My fiance and I are getting married 7/6/2013. We're even after you! We already booked the venue and are scheduling meetings through this next coming month. We're meeting with our number one choice of photographers this Saturday even.

Having the venue booked early has helped things tremendously. You can tell everyone early, you can shop for things with the venue in mind, you know what you'll need as far as decorations or not, etc.

No one's been surprised or anything about it being in 2013. Our venue was already booked through 2012 so we were able to get exactly what we wanted for 2013. We've talked to vendors who already have bookings in to August 2013! You're not planning too early at all. :)

I get my birth control through a mail order pharmacy. I think they need to use a bigger box next time... :/ by dancingsam34in TwoXChromosomes

[–]serenityveritas 1 point2 points ago

I was on it for about five years. I absolutely loved it. The only reason I'm off it now is that I was able to get an IUD (for free!). And since I got the copper one, I'm officially hormone free and can tell you that (for me, at least) I had absolutely zero side effects from being on it. It was the same on it as off it for me. I've heard horror stories too but I think people tend to overly blame birth control for their issues (but that's just my experience and opinion).
