Stickiness was an invention in the 1960s during the free love movement. The chemists were actually the head honchos of Woodstock. To help people understand love better, they showed that even inanimate things could stick together. During the police crackdown, the sticky formula was released into the air and got everywhere. It was really messy and they never really cleaned it up. Eventually, stickiness went global and the world had to learn to harness it for good.

Expect them to be plastic and poorly built in general. If all you need is a stable place for your camera to sit, you'll be fine. But with video work, you'll need to be much more discerning if you want to pan / tilt / move smoothly. In those cases, expect to spend more.

Light leak probably on the door (note the vertical aspect). Solution is to replace the foamy bits. A shop will do it for you around the cost of $40. You can try it yourself if you want, but then test later with film by taking your camera out to a sunny area, shoot a couple of blanks (make sure your shutter speed is fast), leave the camera in different angles in the sun, and develop the film.

Note, you can also check to see if the leak cuts into the holes of the film, if it doesn't then it may be a different kind of leak (shutter?).
