Then I guess this wasn't from the time I saw him.

seen this guys speak... This actually looks like the time I saw him because the stage at my church is identical to that..

Awesome guy tho... When I met him after the show I walked up and he said "hey man pleasure to meetya! Here shake my chicken wing" and then he started wiggling the little appendage he has in place of a leg. I wasnt sure if he was serious and then he burst out laughing and was like "I always save that one for people who look nervous around me... Although its awkward when they really do reach for the hand shake"

I'm kind of new to this. Was this a good pick? by Sonofbrucein cigars

Ummmmmm...... Slows barbecue? Honestly if you are just passing through there isn't a whole lot of intesting stuff going on in the area right now that you can just stop by for the day.

North Korean Film about how Americans are Subjected to Constant Propaganda. Actually Makes a Lot of Good Points. by AristotleJrin TrueReddit

96% of the Indian population in the US died by a plague that struck in the decade before Europeans settlers first tried to set up towns. While Europeans settlers treatment of natives was many times horrible and unacceptable the idea that we destroyed a healthy powerful society isn't exactly accurate. In short the settlers were guilty, but I'm not sure they were guilty of something like genocide.

True free markets have existed... Their existence in America is debatable perhaps, but that's irrelevant. There is no perfect system, but capitalism is the only legitimate option that affords freedom and opportunity to everyone involved. The other beautiful thing about free markets is the ability of multiple economics systems to be present and compete with each other inside the system (thus proving the best system or letting people participate in the system that best suits them). In a free market you can voluntarily join a socialist collective and nobody will bother you... In communism or any state mandated system you can't say "nope. I don't want to participate, thank you very much. I'll just go ahead and do my own thing" because then men with guns come and either kill you or put you in a cage like an animal. So while the goal may be equality the method used is brutality and in my book the ends simply do not justify the means. Initiation of force is always wrong reguardless of whether an individual, group, or even government is responsible. That said... I believe that one may honestly say there is no morally acceptable system available other than free market capitalism.

Politicians need to not exist. We See problems with society that stem from humans not being perfect so we take certain members out of society (who are also not perfect) and elevate them to a position of power (which makes them even worse) over ourselves then we act surprised when they don't fix our problems or act in our best interest. Governing bodies are a useful tool for regulating society, but representative governments breed ignorance among the public and corruption among the elect. Furthermore democracy or any form of group rule over an people who have not voluntarily consented to be ruled in such a way basically equates to a gun being pointed at your head and being told what to do

Actually the beauty of true free market capitalism is that it takes the greediest, worst people in society and it makes it in their best financial interest to stay up at night worrying about what other people's wants and needs are.

The problems we are having stem from the fact that what we currently have is corporatism that is subsidized and protected by an involuntary government. basically We have a modern day feudal system, not free market capitalism.

I'd say tradition motivates most. Whether that is in the form of religion or just upbringing is irrelevant... also making that statement in regards to social conservatism isn't the same break in logic. It still should be avoided, but Social conservatism is a self defining term so if you define yourself as such there is a lot less broad of a philosophy being generalized/understood than when dealing with the term "Christian".

Didn't mean OP... Look through this thread... Especially the top comments. The break in logic is astounding and somewhat upsetting.

My main point here is that you are angry with social conservative (and with good reason even) but that you are making a mistake by saying social conservative= Christian and vice versa. You are angry at the wrong group of people.

Yeah I did. But just as I say it's especially disgraceful of Christians to oppress others since their doctrine is blatantly against it, it's especially disgraceful when atheists who generally pride themselves on logic and reason to throw it out the window when it's convenient.

Well for my part in that I'm more than willing to apologize. As I mentioned I was intentionally an ass because your preconceived notions of Christians were ridiculous.

Social conservatives. That =\= Christian though. Many Christians lean towards social conservatism but they are not mutual philosophies though.

Have you met "most" Christians in the world? This is still way too far reaching of a statement to be able to make. The most you could possibly be able to say with honesty is "it seems as though many of the people who I have met that claim to be Christians, use the bible to oppress..." etc etc etc.

Also there is the issue with assuming motives. For instance- say someone is anti-abortion. Are they really trying to oppress women? No probably not. They just have a fundamental disagreement on when life starts therefore they see their cause from a completely different perspective. To them it's not a women's rights issue, it's a matter of life and death. Before attacking an argument it's best to try to understand what thought process led to that conclusion.

[–]scared2mosh 0 points1 point ago

It's still that "most" statement that's getting me. The problem here is I don't like putting people in groups based on anything. If I thing someone is an ass I'll call them out on it as an individual... I do not the. Equate that persons actions with anyone else who shares some type of unrelated opinion.

That on a logical level is equivalent to getting in an argument with a guy who will only drive fords and then applying my experience with this one guy to everyone who has ever shown interest in ford regardless of whether they actually own and drive one (as in people who go to church but are not Christians or people who claim to be Christians but never have read the bible or gone to church)

[–]scared2mosh -1 points0 points ago

And I have no problem with most people..l I just don't get how you can't recognize that "atheists" can be just as oppressive. People can do good things and bad things regardless of their religious convictions. It is certainly more appalling when Christians are guilty due to their perceived higher calling, but that does not make our own mistakes ok.

Well the problem here is it infers that this is the general or collective opinion of Christians at large... which is absurd. That's like saying because some nut job who is part of the "voluntary human extinction movement" is an atheist that somewhere deep down all atheists want all humans dead.

I woulda started with a more reasonable objection if your original statement wasn't so stupid. Stupid statements don't deserve serious responses hence the reason I felt the need to flame you. Now that you've responded in a slightly more reasonable manner I responded with a slightly more serious response. But seriously dude. You ought a know better than to make blanket statements like you did. And just because it is an "opinion" doesn't make it acceptable. It's that ladies "opinion" that Jews belong behind fences which is disgusting.

[–]scared2mosh -3 points-2 points ago

All I'm trying to get you to say here is that the blanket statement that you made. "That "most" Christians are bad people." Is intolerant bullshit. This conversation can't really go anywhere until you recognize that you are making a hefty statement of condemnation meanwhile you are guilty of the same thing you claim to be against.
