It's a bit off the beaten track, but well worth it. Also bring a flashlight and a long sleeved shirt. They sell lights for your discs 2 for 5 bucks, money well spent.

Why do many people born in St. Louis seem to find the idea of living here so repugnant? by plungerjokein StLouis

[–]rslashuser 1 point2 points ago

As a transplant to STL my observation of the native population ends with 2 paths. You either embrace and enjoy what you have. Or you focus so much on what STL doesn't have in comparison to other cities, and you miss out on exploring what it does have.

Dunno if this helps you but this is a pretty cool company that serves STL. http://www.fruitmycube.com They deliver a boxes of fruit from the Belleville farmers market to various offices throughout STL.

Homebrewing tip for fruit brews. Forget the extracts, forget the whole fruits... by MDWilliams03in Homebrewing

Great tip.

My kids came home with a giant bucket of fresh picked strawberries on Friday. Those blemished berries are what typically goes into jams, jellies, juices, and you guessed it, purees.

Just add a tablespoon of water and a teaspoon of sugar per cup of chopped fruit and puree it in a blender, fresh puree.

Just buy fresh fruit. All you need to do to make a puree is add a slash of water, a little sugar and puree it in a blender.

Fresh ingredients nearly always trump the alternatives.

Has anyone else noticed an influx of anti-smoking ads recently? by rmm45177in StLouis

[–]rslashuser 0 points1 point ago

I've noticed several on the radio lately. They sound like they are targeting the remaining "exemptions" to the STL metro smoking ban. .

Personally I was glad to see STL go smoke free. But enough is enough, no reason to target the few remaining smoke havens.

I have a decent camera tripod available to me that I believe I could use.

I'd like to be able to view things around the lake and also look at planets and the moon.

I'll be leaving it at the lake permanently, so portability isn't a big issue.
