When and where is the best place to farm items on Hell? by lackofbiscuitsin Diablo

[–]resiroth 0 points1 point ago

Aren't the legendaries derp there? I heard of like...level 30 40dps hamburgers or something. That sounds cool, but not if it was my first legendary and I was finally expecting a big AH payoff.

It just seems like you're angry someone is playing with matches while someone else right beside you is burning down the house with a flamethrower. * shrugs *.

I doubt blizzard will nerf tyrael and his regular mob killing powers. Think of it as someone making a new game in A3 and looting that one vendors chest for 150 gold, logging out and redoing it...over and over. Was blizzard intending players to do that? Probably not. Is that an exploit then? Maybe, but who really cares?

Edit: I wanted to point it out since blizzard has been deleting any mention of it on the forums.

You realize there is widespread duping of the AH right? You could dupe stacks of 100 perfect squares consistently. Apparently when the AH is really laggy (which is kind of often) people take advantage of that by posting items. The item doesn't successfully post, they log out, they log in and they have the item and the auction. Duping ruins the economy way more than tyrael killing some random mobs.

If you want to be mad about people taking advantage of exploits, look to the auction house dupers imo.

Because of lag (not insane lag, but around 250-300ms which is pretty common) mobs sometimes no longer agro you during that one second making it drastically worse. A better comparison would be taking mantra of healing and making it 155 health per second, rune of protection would be 1 second with 7% of the targets health and all other runes would have half effectiveness.

Blizzard didn't nerf the rune, they nerfed the ability. 35% movement speed of 2 seconds was okay, 35% movement speed for 1 second is basically useless. What about generating a whopping 6 hatred ( 6 hatred per second for 1 second)?

Monks have it really shitty in inferno because they're melee (I play a barb so I know that feel bro), but imo the nerf to SS was harder than the nerf for that one rune. Time of need for example seems pretty strong (when a tank is geared very well in inferno they can actually take hits, 20% is nothing to sneeze at!)

With great stats like level 57 bracer, +13 cold resist. Worst high level item I have found to date.

I see all the "Oh shit, this ability is stronger than intended" hotfixes, but where are the "Oh shit, this ability isn't as useful as we intended" hotfixes? by neomatrix248in Diablo

[–]resiroth 2 points3 points ago

Yeah, but all this does is ensure those that exploited those builds are the only ones capable of farming well. You've drastically reduced the supply of inferno gear, causing prices to rise even higher. I say this as someone that has the gear to farm inferno effectively.

apparently they unpatched it...at least someone is livestreaming and it is working. I can't believe that wizards can tank better than barb/monk and that is somehow working as intended.

Thank you Reddit, you improved power leveling to a whole new level. As thanks, here's a new video of me doing the A3 - A4 run that nets ~2.6-2.7 million exp per hour! by poopfist024in Diablo

I usually solo it around that time so that is a believable time but remember that your guy obvs was near Az at the start, no way he runs it in 5 seconds.

This probably won't be seen, but you can buy modern motherboards (Example) that support i7 etc. It makes sense when the data collection card you are using costs ~10,000+ dollars.

More grooming than fashion: Electric shaving or razor? by iDemonixin malefashionadvice

[–]resiroth 2 points3 points ago

This will get you a shave as close as you want. If I shave twice with it I find it actually is a bit too close. Razors are nice, but bottom line I look just as good and it takes me as long, maybe a little faster even. In the morning when I can barely get out of bed, I don't have to worry about cutting myself. Ever. The weird rotary ones are horrible and "pull" the hairs, but the foil shavers that are ~100+ work just as well and cost less (no cream/aftershave needed for me, just lotion). If I'm in a rush I can shave while brushing my teeth even.

Can I just eat tons of gummybears during workout days as a carb source or would that be a bad idea? by resirothin leangains

[–]resiroth[S] 0 points1 point ago

http://rippedbody.jp/2011/10/01/frequently-asked-questions/#carbsources is where I heard it initially, and the site is regarded pretty well by LG/IFers. I'm curious why spiking insulin after workout would be a bad thing too...I am not saying that it's necessary, but I've never heard high insulin levels after a workout = bad...

Point of clarification even though I am almost positive you know the difference: gummybears are very different than sugar if they're derived from corn syrup (~98% glucose). Sugar is ~50% fructose/glucose. Chemically starches and glucose are identical after being broken down. It's like BCAA/free-form amino acids vs whey protein.

It may be great for curing a splitting headache, but scientists have now discovered that aspirin also activates an enzyme that burns fat by davidreiss666in science

[–]resiroth 3 points4 points ago

Well I don't know about caffeine, but yes to ephedrine.

http://ccjm.org/content/68/6/541.full.pdf http://www.taadas.org/factsheets/ClubDrugFacts.htm etc.

Raves and concerts in general (near the front) are notorious for extremely hot temperatures.

Probably the worst source ever but there are tons of websites saying roughly the same thing: http://www.oppapers.com/essays/Ephedrine/44325 ~80 deaths total. I wonder how many deaths mcdonalds is responsible for?

That's all well and good, but most of caffeine's effects are a result of it being a nonselective antagonist of adenosine receptors. That's probably why it works well without aspirin.

I'm not familiar with aspirin enough to know how significant its action on adenosine is, but caffeine seems to do the trick for a lot of people. aspirin was added to the stack as a safeguard for blood clotting from the ephedrine I think (although to be honest EC stacks are very mainstream now and the risk is blown out of proportion.) I've heard figures around ~80 deaths from ephedrine total over 25 years (a good % of them being from dehydration at raves), for reference 450+ people die per year from accidental Tylenol overdose.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but why are sweet potatoes superior to gummy bears as a source of glucose? Isn't glucose...glucose? I guess I'm curious what advantages do sweet potatoes have. The gummybears would be consumed postworkout with a lean protein shake

If you suddenly eat a lot more than you normally do in one meal, does your body process the extra calories normally? by yummyjellyin askscience

[–]resiroth 3 points4 points ago

Something to consider: if a man works 8 hours a day doing manual labor he might be burning ~400-500 calories an hour in addition to causing a lot of wear on muscles. That's an additional ~3200-4000 calories burned just from going to work. I've always wondered if the reduction in manual labor jobs is at least partially responsible for our obesity issue.

http://www.ajcn.org/content/74/6/707.long de novo lipogenesis from carbohydrates is a rare and insignificant occurrence unless you are on a low-fat diet (which upregulates this pathway) or eating ridiculous amounts (600g+ daily for months).

This also holds true for glucogenic amino acids as they first must be converted to glucose and then follow the pathway above. Ketogenic acids can contribute through the acetyl-CoA pathway but ~25-30% of the energy is lost through this process (a gram of protein is more accurately ~3.2 calories, not 4 for this reason). Protein in general isn't often stored as fat (usually burned directly/used in synthesis).

Otherwise accurate, thanks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucrose sucrose is 50/50 glucose and fructose, I think the issue is that half of it is fructose and ends up in the liver which only has a 100g capacity roughly. Glucose however ends up in muscles.
