They are referring to the event horizon. This would be a distance of ~0.1AU for the one in the Milky Way and ~200AU for the new ones they are referencing.

Vancouver Canucks turn 42 by Dorksidein canucks

[–]redphive 2 points3 points ago

To be fair, they haven't turned 42, but have celebrated 42 years of being an NHL franchise. The Vancouver Canucks have existed as a team since 1945 in the PCHL and then the WHL in 1952-1970.

Just sayin'

Where can I get a warfarin blood test? by travelstackerin vancouver

[–]redphive 2 points3 points ago

You should be able to get this done at any Life Labs location. You can book a time online. You may also need a referral from a clinic however once done you can get a standing order for returns.

I have never been able to get those, very strange. At one point with the article photo I began feeling sick to my stomach.

Canucks David Booth under fire for bear baiting exercise. What do you think about this? by catgotchain vancouver

[–]redphive 1 point2 points ago

this is a very reasonable point of view. If there is an issue with something that is not prohibited, then who do you direct your displeasure at? The ones that make the decision to allow things to, or not to happen.

How do "bandwidth aggregation" devices/services work? by cult_of_reasonin networking

[–]redphive 0 points1 point ago

This service relies on building two tunnels from a single location to your offices using the two different providers. Using that, they essentially assign your office and IP address out of the remote data center and all of your traffic will flow through there. This traffic is equally split between the two service providers and gets to you all reassembled and happy.

It is pretty cool service and offers up a great deal of redundancy to those companies that need uptime but can't afford high end redundancy.

it is a cool MOC for sure. One thing I have noticed about a lot of the submissions here is that they are posted on Flickr. I like going through the previous postings that people have made, it is kind of cool. Just saying that Deviant art is difficult to appreciate the work as well as you can with Flickr perhaps.

I would rather validate the email with a confirmation email personally. 100% sure they will get the email right or won't be a user...

That said as I write this it would be frustrating if your email was in fact gnail.com and it kept getting corrected..
