Funny how it's taken so long to create a male birth control option-but researchers caution that it should be non-hormonal b/c contraceptives that rely on disrupting production of the male hormone "cause side effects such as mood swings, acne and irritability." Hah. by Dianaein TwoXChromosomes

TracyMorganFreeman is an MRA troll who constantly responds to posts in completely obtuse ways that should boggle the mind. I've encountered him and the ridiculous things he writes on several other occasions. My response was in line with his general demeanor on this subreddit and others where he spreads his general bitterness towards women.

I don't know anything about elements, but you need a layer mask. Or you could try making a selection and then just masking out your selected area in a separate layer.

Oh...I get it... This is funny because: black people! And black people are so funny! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Wait, did I do that right? Did I get the joke?

Thank you so much for your advice. It's always nice to be guided by the much more informed men around me. I don't often know how to read shit on the internet. And I know the patriarchy is just trying to protect me, from myself, because my lady bits make me really dumb.

Being as the pill's development was done primarily by two male scientists at the behest, and with the funding of Margaret Sanger and Katherine McCormick your assertion that it was developed only by men is false. Second, the assertion is that the pill was developed for "women only" ignores the enormous benefits that men have reaped from its development without bearing any of the burdens of its use.

You are so impossibly obtuse that I wonder if it's a disability or you're just a complete idiot.

I wouldn't say outright misogyny, but more of a expectation (and willingness) of men to allow women to bear the burden, cost, side effects, and responsibility of dealing with this particular issue. If men had to deal with some of the side affects that many women do I feel like more research would have been devoted to mitigating these problems long ago.

Looking at moving to Miami by zeamaizein Miami

[–]razzertto 0 points1 point ago

Coconut Grove (and many parts of older Florida) is strange. One part has 500k+ homes and developments, one street over you have drug dealers. I wouldn't suggest moving there unless you're well ensconced in a high-rise (not many of those) or in the middle of a few blocks of nicer houses.

I live in the Gables and my house has never flooded. Some streets are bad for flooding, but most older houses are built on top of crawlspaces. The water would have to rise like 3 feet in an hour for it to flood my house. Hire a competent realtor and make a judgment. Most likely, you'll be fine.

Gables is a really, really quiet and safe city. It houses the University of Miami and the Gables police are notorious for being on top of crime. I'd walk around almost anywhere in the gables alone in the middle of the night and not worry much.

Any street sense you have from being in a big city (like Chicago) will serve you will in most of Miami. Avoid areas of obvious poverty until you feel comfortable. Don't let people freak you out too much; as much as I love this subreddit, you get some people on here that live in the ghetto (and are rather bitter) and think that that's everyone's existence in Miami. It's not. Mind you, Miami's no place to be dirt poor so I can understand their annoyance, but if you've got a good job you can live decently here without much hassle (except the traffic).

My biggest piece of advice is: try to live as close as possible to your job to avoid traffic. If your job is going to be in the Gables, live in the Gables (or very close by). Don't venture too far into Kendall or Westchester because you'll spend your life stuck on US1 or some godawful highway. Besides, there's not much out there in terms of stuff to do. Most of it is east-side.

I'm really looking forward to the WCF. I have a feeling watching these two teams (with these two guys) it will either be a dominating sweep for one (who knows which) or an all-out brawl that goes to seven.

I'm not saying I think it's over exposed, but next time you might try bracketing to deal with your sky issue. Expose once for the rock detail, once for the sky, combine in photoshop.

Edit: But, I do like your rock detail very much.

Male readers, do you find you read predominantly male authors? Female readers, do you find you read predominantly female authors? What is your favourite author of the opposite sex? by CheatasaurusRexin literature

[–]razzertto 10 points11 points ago

Here's some evidence to back up bias in the publishing industry. The proportion of female authors reviewed in the major literary magazines points out some inherent issues. However, we can't be sure (based on the information provided) if 50% of the books submitted for review are from female writers. But then we must ask, if the gender split on submitted works isn't 50/50 (or close to it), why not?

Edit: I missed a word.

Just because you proclaim it so doesn't make it true. Your opinion has no value because you offer nothing but empty criticisms that come off as foolish bitterness.

You got down voted to oblivion for saying something so ridiculously stupid that it's insulting to all of those who choose to make our homes here. If you don't like it, what's keeping you here? Feel free to leave. But if you think that any other place is full of happy happy joy joy free stuff all the time you're mistaken.

There are a few neighborhoods that you'll want to stay away from, but if you stay in the main areas (SoBe, Brickell, Downtown, Gables, So. Miami, Miami Shores, Aventura) you'll be just fine. Honestly, Miami gets a really bad rap, but things are generally safe. Just as you wouldn't go wandering in a poor neighborhood in London or Paris (without knowing the area well, don't do that here). Walk with confidence and be street smart.

Know what irks me even more? People who are pedantic about other people's reading habits. Frankly, the type of reading one must do for Shakespeare vs Gaiman is fundamentally different. They require different types of comprehension and different levels of commitment. Who cares what other people like?

I'm an English major who has consumed my fair share of Shakespeare and, frankly, I hate it. Don't get me wrong the stories are fantastic but reading it misses the essential element. Because Shakespeare was a PLAYWRIGHT! He meant for his lines and jokes to be performed live not read.

Some of the greatest books out there are what you deride as 'genre fiction'. <-- What does that even mean? I think it's a way for petty book snobs to dismiss literature that falls outside the canon of dead white men.

tl;dr Find something else to clutch your pearls about.

Did I make a mistake buying an Olympus Camera? by akebonobambusain photography

[–]razzertto 1 point2 points ago

I went from an Olympus e-500 (a little older than yours) to a Canon 60D. Main reason? Lack of availability of lenses. I loved my little Olympus, it's a great camera. But I finally had enough trying to find good glass that was reasonably priced and available in my local pro camera store (not Ritz). I though hard about moving and waited over a year to make a decision. It was tough abandoning the system that served me so well, but I just couldn't justify staying with what seemed to by a dying company.

New to Miami. Looking for a jogging or rock climbing partner. by luxo42in Miami

The UM running club is always looking for people to join on. You don't have to be a student (I'm 90% sure of that). http://www.miami.edu/sa/index.php/wellness_center/intramurals_sports/club_sports/running/

Also, the running stores typically have group runs. I'm a former runner and found that I met a lot of people by showing up at the running store and asking about any training groups they have. Good luck!

Have you tried writing poetry? A lot of successful poetry uses imagery. While it also needs rhythm (that might not translate well for you) it might be a useful exercise.
