I didn't start hating BU kids until AFTER I started going to school there.

I'm about to enter a PhD program in art history. Any advice from past/current graduate students? by Pygmalion_Flippitin ArtHistory

Douchebaggery is definitely a huge problem in our field but dont let it get you down! I am about to finish my masters and then get the hell out of academia. There are just too many personalities to deal with and even bigger egos, but it seems like you know what you want out of it so focus on yourself and try not to get caught up in the drama. Also, be prepared for a completely new work ethic. It is a more drastic transition than it is from high school to college. Congrats and enjoy it!!

What tricks does your JRT know? by aznprdin jackrussellterrier

The foster family that had my Arty before we adopted him taught him hide and seek. They put treats in those plastic easter eggs and hid them around the house. He would find them and break open the eggs for the treats! I am too lazy to teach him anything now, but he listens so well it would be so easy to do!

the skirt is from a clothing brand called All Saints, the harness is from Clockwork Couture, pocket watch is actually a locket from the dollar bin at the local craft store and the rest was just stuff I had in the closet!

The Bayeux Tapestry: William the Bastard, Goode King Harold, and the Art Historians… (what's wrong with our art history textbooks?) by kwknoxin ArtHistory

[–]racattack 5 points6 points ago

The problem with this is that they are only discussing survey textbooks, which are widely known to gloss over important historical moments in favor of others. If the author were to seek out a more complete historiography, they would find a plethora of information regarding the Bayeux Tapestry as well as the conditions leading up to the Battle of Hastings. The problems that they site with the works that they have assessed could, and have been applied to survey books regarding a number of topics, especially art produced after the Romans and outside of the Western world. (ok done with my rant!)
