Locally, we have something that's even worse than the fundraising – out-and-out panhandling. Kids from the football team (or sometimes the cheerleading squad, if the players themselves are too cool for it) stand outside of grocery stores with a cup and a sign. I never give to them and I'm seen as a curmudgeon because I think able-bodied kids shouldn't be begging for money.
