Apple's Tim Cook Voluntarily Forgoes $75 Million Payout by josetavaresin apple

[–]prox_ -31 points-30 points ago

That's a real sacrafice! (tl;dr: salary of Tim Cook = $900,000 in cash a year plus bonuses in stocks between $376 million to $634 million till 2021 = $42,000 an hour = $700 a minute = $12 a second; people with a bachelor make typically 2,3 million in their lifetime)

Always the honorably rich guys who pull of this kind of shit!

Today I gave a dollar to a poor musician, but it's not nearly the same. Sorry! And yes, I'm a bit ashamed of myself...

Edit: For fun and grammar!

But the Germans are huge fans of Ferrero!! Theanari30 felt like it's origin is in Germany, because it's very deeply anchored in common culture. Nutella, Rocher, Hanuta, Duplo and especially Kinder-Chocolate, everybody knows these products. Even our national team was advertising Nutella.

Found my 87 year old grandfather, who strained his hammy playing tennis, on the couch with this bottle of advil and a pitcher of manhattans in front of him. He insisted he was supposed to have 3 or more per day. by krillexthewhalein funny

Description says clearly:

  • have 3 or more alcoholic drinks every day while using this product

So, Grandpa just did what he has to ...

How long can you hold that position? (I mean the girl, cats obviously can't type) Depending on the hours, in my opinion it actually is sport ... kinda

Windows -> Apple converts, why did you change? by xadzin apple

Thanks for the advice. I will think of your comment when deciding if I go the netbook Linux route. Linux fascinates me. Maybe I should read a bit more about it. There are so many distributions. Which do you used on your netbooks?

I wanted something new for a while. I had to decide between Linux and Mac. The form factor drove me to Mac, the openness of Linux attracted me. I like to go a bit deeper into the system than most others, though I know, that I know nothing. Eventually I had money at hand and chose a MacBook Air.

It's ok, design is great, but OSX 10.6 is not as perfect as I thought it would be, and I hate the commercial side of owning a Mac, I'm always aware, that everyone wants to sell something to me. I definitely will buy a netbook and try Linux in the near future.

Only a Grammar Nazi would notice this bizarre claim from the Romney campaign. by Piscator629in funny

[–]prox_ 1 point2 points ago*

Though I doubt, that these rights derive from the second amendment, I totally support Romney in case of the shooting and hunting part, especially on holidays like christmas.

They should express openly that every adult has the right to hunt, shoot and/or protect their families, however she/he decides, instead of tying it in a sentence which could so easily be misunderstood. This could really turn the scales. Maybe hunting your family will be a popular sport and if you are really into it, you can watch a live stream from the latest hunts around the US ...

A big loss!

You embraced the other in your life. You lived together for 16 years. You trusted each other and learned to read each other. You experienced life together and aged side by side. Against this, failings fade away. He never forgot you and you will never forget him, because he is a part of you. That's what love is as a mortal being, in my opinion.

You're a lucky guy, because you shared your life with a true friend, who loved you. Remember this, if you feel sad!

Writer's Block by DTPBin Music

A general way to overcome this condition doesn't exist, since every person is different and the circumstances, which influence each person's life, as well as the emotional situations vary.

You seem to be over focused, which inhibits your creativity. You look at the end of the creative process and wish, you had already created your song without knowing how it will sound like, instead of going through the creative process (the creative process is really satisfying!). In my opinion there are only few rare cases in which an artist snaps his fingers and everything is done. You have a particular outcome in mind, but can not write it down, it could be, the outcome in your mind is a problem, that suppresses real creativity.

That said, here are my two cents:

  1. Get rid of the fixation on the song, distract yourself. Push minor creative projects, that come easier to you and enjoy the process of creating something. Have fun!

  2. If you feel like it, get back on the song and look at it from a distance, as an objective observer and tell yourself, if it looks from the outside as promising as you felt about it. If not, discard it.

  3. If you still like the project, play with it, goof around. Do the opposite you originally intend to, set themes to go with, a dark voice speaking, a child involved, what wold it sound like if you mix it with a little yellow, etc.

  4. Consider writing the song in more then two or three steps, like an important side project. Maybe that is the technique which fits you and your song best. You don't have to write the song in one or two brutal sessions.

  5. DO NOT COMPARE YOUR EMERGING SONG WITH THE ONES YOU REALLY LIKE IN THIS MOMENT! This would guide you in a specific direction (which can be fun too, btw) and makes your song generally a kind of remake or absurd mix. Your goal is to be creative, though that doesn't mean, that your cultural background isn't the source you use to create, and which sets the boundaries for most of your creations.

TL;DR: Don't be too focused on the project. Distract yourself. Step back and look if it is worth it. Play around with your project, maybe it loosens the tightend knot and gets you somewhere.

Edit: Some spelling.

I don't know, 8 seems pretty distant regarding the "spark-making" and stone throwing though not impossible, but let's be true here, he will never make it to 12! At least it will end with a big bang, enjoy the show and in the meantime make another one or better two, maybe you pull off to trick genetics.
