we used windows movie maker on a windows 7 machine, and did just what you are talking about. DSLR, setup for jpeg, then upload the pics into movie maker, used the sound recorder and voila!

Thanks bro. I don't get nearly as much time to spend with them as I would like, but I try to balance work and family as best I can.
