I think it would be an interesting opportunity and I see that you have done a large majority of the contributions. Good on you for keeping it going. I feel like the mod that took charge would have to keep up the pace of submissions and unfortunately I don't have much spare time. Moderating one subreddit seems to be enough for me. :) Sorry but I do wish you luck.

I too was considering getting a solar filter that was pre-made. Then I learned about Baader Solar Film.

The premade solar filter for my scope (Lightbridge 12") costs around $180 USD. A piece of Baader solar film covering the same area on my scope goes for around $75 USD. I am just going to order the film and make my own filter. Much cheaper and it will allow me to use the color filters for the eyepieces as the Baader is a white light solar filter.

Look into it, may be more cost effective.

Download Stellarium (stellarium.org) you can put in your location and rewind or fast-forward time based on the current date and your position.

Reddit so quick to judge. I agree this probably isn't for the extreme ultra-light backpacker. But for those that use GPS with USB Recharging capabilities (eTrex) or the new Petzl headlamps with the USB charge port, this can be a handy feature for sure.

Also, the fact that it has a fan that adds oxygen for a controlled burn is nice as well.

Don't just go throwing your hate around because you don't like the product. It's probably useful for somebody.

As most people have already pointed out, unfortunately with your budget you're probably better off not spending that little money. You would probably buy something that actually was more of a waste than it's worth.

You could however look on craigslist/ebay for a decent used scope. Make sure you check the mirrors for cracks and scratches. Talk to the seller. A dobsonian or newtonian would probably be the cheapest route to look at.

The downside to binoculars is that they don't have the wow factor that a telescope has and without a good stand for the binoculars it can be slightly difficult to get a stable image.

It seems that paintballsellers.com is an unregistered domain. Basically what you got with us was hosting and not the actual domain name. You can however purchase the domain by visiting http://dashboard.pixlgeek.com.

When you checkout make sure your cart indicates only a domain name and not an additional hosting package.

Just saw "temporary URL". Currently the server your data is located on will not work by accessing the Temporary URL (IP Address/~username). The domain must point to the nameservers to be activated.
