Twice as thick as the Jazz III? That's insane. For acoustics I have a multitude of picks, but most of the time I go back to my Tortex 0.50mm for anything soft.

We are omnivores. Nothing you will ever think or say will change that our bodies are made for eating, amongst other things, meat. The way we live and the way our culture has evolved do not evade the fact that we do what we do out of necessity, and that morals only exist because our surroundings allow it. You and your child would happily kill and eat any other animal if your surroundings demanded it to facilitate your survival, and you wouldn't feel bad about it. You would even happily kill and eat any animal if your surroundings didn't demand it, but your moral code didn't decide it to be wrong. What is considered normal has nothing to do with any static moral code, and whatever you brainwash your children with is whatever society and our current culture allows you to brainwash them with, because that's what humans do. That you have bought into a certain set of morals doesn't automatically mean that they are superior for neither you nor your children, and it doesn't mean there is an evolutionary impetus that echoes your morals. It just means that you're one of the last lines in an ever-evolving tribe of opportunistic and adaptable omnivores, and that some of those happen to favour a moral that says killing another animal is bad.

I am completely in love with him as well. What a brilliant character. He is sitting right on the edge of reality, but firmly so; not over the top. I love how he could slip right into some of my favourite graphic novels, because he has all these obviously fascinating traits, and yet he fits so nicely into the universe because of Jimmy's war experience, and recent problems with his leg (not to mention how it ties perfectly together with why he is having problems, and how their friendship began and is developing).

Great stuff. I'm eagerly awaiting the continuation.

Picks costs nothing online.

A friend of mine bought some strings and some picks online a couple of weeks back, he got 25 picks extra, for free, because he had ordered from them before.

I am a broke filmmaker (and hobby musician), I know how all that works. It's only when I can't afford rice I won't get gear. Picks are very easy to budget for, so I never run out.

My point is, if you're a forgetful guitarist, what it takes to maintain a stockpile of picks is way easier than getting this and maintaining a stockpile of cards. I don't see how anyone can argue with that. It's a fun gimmick, sure. Leave it out in the living room and have a laugh at the expense your friends who have a habit of stealing your picks, maybe they'll get the picture; but don't expect this to be practical in any way (unless you somehow always have a steady "income" of suitable cards, and always forget to buy picks).

Just to be clear here, from what you've said you don't appear to have actually used a pick made in this fashion but a punch out pick from a promotional perforated card (different plastics etc.)

Yeah, that's right.

It might be true that there are differences in the plastic, but to be honest, I think most of the difference is a couple of more layers of very thin rubber/plastic coating on the credit cards and the like, the rest is probably very similar. The credit cards might be stiffer, and that's a plus. All other cards (library, festival etc. are pretty much the same).

The main problems are basically stiffness, that the edge isn't rounded, and that they're slippery as all hell. You need to play for a while to actually get an edge on the pick that you want. With a credit card, the edges are actually rounded beforehand. The stiffness and being slippery aren't fixable, unless you happen to have an actual credit card with some indented numbers or something.

Of course, the picks made from this thingie sits better in the hand because it's smaller, but a scissors could do that just as easily. The only satisfaction you'll get out of this is a nice "ca-chunk" sound when you use it.
