TROPHY CASE

Growing up my dad bought us a dog he named Kitty, a cat named Puppy, and a parrot named Jeff. He taught Jeff how to say Puppy and Kitty's names, which would cause Kitty to freak out and bark constantly. Dad found it hilarious. What are some things your parents did that convinced you they were crazy? by Merrick_T_Thundergunin AskReddit

Every year my dad conducts a GPS Easter egg hunt. Each family member receives a piece of paper with the coordinates to their stashes of chocolate.

When I was young my sister and I each had an egregious collection of these stuffed cats. Sometimes when we'd get a new one for our birthday/Christmas my dad would take them out of their original packaging and wrap each leg, tail, ear, etc, of the cat separately so the wrapped cat is in the exact shape of the cat. He did that for other presents too, but those were the most memorable.

Installed an "awooga" horn in his Jeep Wrangler, and would use it to embarrass me when picking me up or dropping me off at school. I later inherited the Jeep and loved the shit out of that horn.

He has a childhood teddy bear named "Fluffy Muffy" that sits on a prominent shelf in our house. One day he finely crafted a miniature fly fishing rod for him. The reel works and everything.

He made me earrings and a necklace pendant out of an old motherboard for my 19th or so birthday before I had even seen any circuitry jewelry around. Pretty badass!

Can we all just shrug off the karma-whoring title and give the girl/OP some actual feedback? It's not worth flying off the handle and telling them to go to hell for this dumb crap.

I have been making simple origami cups since I was a kid. People are impressed when they see that it can really hold liquid.

Hey reddit! There's been a crap ton of depressing threads lately so let's cheer each other up! What do you have that you're thankful for? by NoodleNinja13in AskReddit

In addition to the necessities, great friends, wonderful family, good health, and an excellent education, I am also so grateful to have the opportunity to travel as I please. I just had an amazing backpacking trip with my beloved and we came back safe and sound, with a heap of awesome new memories and friends. I can't help but think that I am a better, and more understanding human being because of it.

The first author I dove into when I started reading for leisure! Breakfast of Champions would be a great one to start with.

Neuromancer is a fabulous read, but maybe a rookie reader might want something a little lighter?

I'd say this isn't a great recommendation for someone just getting into reading.

I agree. This is the book that got me into reading for pleasure when I was in high school.
