TROPHY CASE

Turn old thrift store junk into these super cute mismatched candle holders. by harrybloggerin crafts

[–]pajamaparty 1 point2 points ago

Try thrifting candleholders and small plates instead of buying new wooden discs. They might look nice enough to not have to paint. With a larger plate on top, it's a cake stand!

Every time I go into a grocery store, I am amazed at how cheaply priced this is by preruntumblerin Frugal

It's also got shortening in it! That's why it's so yummy but so not vegetarian-friendly.

Hairy gorilla arms, crushed self-esteem. by palewithdarkarmhairin TwoXChromosomes

[–]pajamaparty 2 points3 points ago

I'm pale with hairy arms/feet/knuckles/lower tummy/etc but luckily my hair isn't super dark and I don't have PCOS. I was made fun of in school and would only wear long sleeves and long pants for a while as a kid because of it. But the last few years in college I've discovered people in certain communities think it's really punk if you grow out your underarm hair (which I do in the Fall/Winter when it's not too hot) and I actually got some respect and empowerment from it. So I understand "owning it" but also the hassle that can be and just wanting to not worry about it.

My advice: join groupon, livingsocial, etc and wait for laser hair removal deals. I got a little bit done on my upper thigh/bikini line where it's really coarse and dark for dirt cheap but it ended up being kind of a shady place so I stopped after two (of six) visits. It'll take some waiting around and deliberation, but if you want long lasting results without forking over a huge chunk of change, it's the best solution I've come by so far. Plus, pale skin and dark hair is IDEAL for laser removal to get the best results. Still more expensive than shaving (in the short run), but it'll save you time, money, and stress in the future.

Personally I think I'd look weird with no arm hair at all, and I've grown to like my "hobbit feet." So maybe just getting a few places done will make the rest more endearing, haha.

In honour of Supplement Thursdays.. I bring you: Supplement Selector (thanks to Silverhydra & Herman_Gill) by wfrictionin Fitness

This is really neat! Some feedback: I answered "vegan" and it suggested fish oil and whey protein. Maybe have algae or flax seed oil and hemp or soy protein as an alternative? Also, it suggested zinc for anti-estrogen and increasing testosterone, but I'm not interested in either of those (lady here). On a related note, how about a question asking whether you are on hormonal birth control, since combining that with some supplements (like zinc) are a no-no.

He's Jonathan Safran Foer. Ask him anything. by kickme444in IAmA

[–]pajamaparty 7 points8 points ago

Which "side" is Foer on? For me, he ultimately comes across as a "compassionate carnivore" in the book, so I thought it was biased in that direction since he never really takes the stance that killing animals is right or wrong in the first place.

This subreddit should be about substance as much as technique. What makes 'good' art is the intent of the artist and the meaning of the work.
