Ont. students gearing up for own tuition protests by coconutmixin toronto

[–]owookie -5 points-4 points ago

Not helping a lot == paying 2/3 of the cost of tuition + paying interest on loans while in school + bursaries/grants to those who have good marks

Sorry just saying!

Edit: lol hivemind. Let me re-write for maximum karma.

You're damn right the gov't doesn't help a lot, they do fuck all! Not only should they pay my tuition, they should pay for a place for me to stay during school, and should pay me $15/hour for just attending! I swear they'll get their money back via taxes after I graduate and get a $200k per year job!

So... what are the consequences of keeping tuition low? by lynnangelin canada

No more pathetic than your 'argument'.

The value of eating is much more important and deeper to our society than "making a profit". Its a shame you think I am making this distinction for semantics.

The purpose of a business is to make profit, and because of this it governs every aspect of how you manage a business. If a unit is not making money, you get rid of it.

Its extremely dangerous to start using business language when talking about something like eating. Do we 'lay off' people who aren't making healthy choices at dinner time? Do we allow farmers to go bankrupt?

  • Education is damn cheap. Even after tuition increase the majority of the cost is subsidized. The same goes for the rest of Canada.

  • Anyone that wants a university education can get one. And a good one at that.

And that's a good thing in the opinion of the student unions. I think one of the largest unions is demanding that tuition be $0

It seems that you disagreement is simply one of semantics. Your statement is pretty much meaningless. I can do it too.

"The function of eating is not itself a business. The purpose is not to make profit"

See how ridiculous that is?

Education is big business. I'm not sure how you think this idea is 'silly'.

Ever tried talking to someone who has spent a portion of their life living in an actual police state?

Last time I looked 3 new LRT lines (one being half underground) were being built in Toronto, along with a subway extension.

For his flatulence and his uncanny resemblance to some dead German guy named Adolf.

Obviously.

I'm not sure if I got them because they have a sense of humor, or thought that I was serious.

  • Free tuition for everyone, it's only fair!

  • Fuck the police, they employ brutal tactics! If they left the protesters alone the protests would be 100% peaceful!!

  • Fuck baby bombers for stealing all the good jobs!

  • Torontonians are lazy assholes!

  • Fuck Charest , he's a stupid fucking fascist who hates democracy!!!

Now where are my god damn upvotes?
