Context is important. In the context it's used in by Dyrus (really, a large majority of these words' uses are in this context), it has no association with homosexuality.

These words have evolved to mean something like 'lame' or 'cheap.'

As a homosexual, I'm embarrassed by much of the LGBT community for being gigantic pansies who get up in arms over words. If anyone is offended by 'faggot' or 'gay' being used without any context to sexuality, they should remove themselves from socialization until they can grow up.

Game Mechanics to get you 2,000 ELO! by SK-JammeHin leagueoflegends

[–]omgitsalion 0 points1 point ago*

This is wrong. I've gone from 1200 to 1900+ on both NA and EU a total of four times, my highest being 2100-some on NA. I'll be the first to say that it's not possible to carry in the majority of games.

The first time was on NA earlier in the first season, ending around 1900-some, then I decayed to ~1500, then played to 2100. After that, I made an EU account and played to ~2000. I just started playing my NA account again and after three weeks, it's up 500 rating to high 1900s.

The idea that losing a game is never others' fault and there's always something you could have done better to win is completely wrong, and I have no idea why this sub-reddit believes it. It's only true when you're playing with pros, because every little mistake is punished.

Carrying doesn't happen, unless your team mates tie their lanes and you win yours, which almost never happens. Until I get back to the point where I'm queuing into games with the top players, almost every single loss is the result of one team having more bad players than the other; when I queue, it's like I'm playing roulette.

Every time I win a streak of games, I say 'Well, those were lucky queues.' My skill contributed to winning, but it's contribution is minor compared to being lucky enough to get good team mates.

All of my fat is centered around my mid section. My arms and legs are pretty much solid. I have a firm gut and my ribs aren't countable, but there isn't much fat covering them.

I'm male. The online calculators give me 16%, so it seems like my guess is correct.

[Science] Losing weight vs Losing Fat by famasfilmsin keto

[–]omgitsalion 0 points1 point ago

I'm not sure if keto alone gets rid of fat for those of us who aren't overweight. I'm reaching the point where I can't lose much more weight, and I have lost inches off my waist (the smallest size stores stock is now a little bit too big), but I'm not noticing much visible fat loss.

I also have a bioelectric scale and it can't measure my body fat correctly at all. I wouldn't trust them. I'm 5'8" and my scale read 20-21% when I was 141 lbs. I'm now 122 lbs and it still reads 20-21%.

Just furthering the 'don't follow 1g of protein per lean lb' thing, if those of us who are smaller attempted to follow this, it wouldn't be possible for us to keep our macros stable.

Save me /r/keto! I can't stop there sweet cravings! by PongAppin keto

[–]omgitsalion 0 points1 point ago

Cream cheese muffins and clouds should be a keto staple. I don't have a link to the recipes, but they're pretty simple.

Clouds are a stick of unsalted(important!) butter and cream cheese combined with sweetener, beaten until fluffy, and frozen. Cream cheese muffins are cream cheese, egg, vanilla, and sugar baked in muffin cups. I think both recipes can be found on the low carb site on the side bar.

Baking aside, I would put diet soda and coffee with sweetener as the next best choice for a sweet tooth.

Has anyone here, particularly females, used keto to drop only 20-30 pounds? by Kamie427in keto

Nothing to add to the zillion posts here, but I figured it should be pointed out that most people posting to this sub-reddit are overweight (more likely obese), which I think gives many average people unrealistic expectations of keto.

This year the "gay penalty tax" for my partner and I was $3700. What was yours? by Ashlynkatin lgbt

[–]omgitsalion 0 points1 point ago

So gay parents don't deserve these benefits as well? They shouldn't be equally equipped to "raise kids"?

They do deserve them, but it's not as easy as saying 'Okay you can have these benefits, too.' There is a huge process involved and it takes a lot of time and resources to make it happen. Also, the issue here is that if we were to give gay couples this benefit, we would just be further promoting an already broken tax break. That's not the solution.

You say that like it's a bad thing, like "wanting equality" isn't a valid goal or something.

It's not. Gay marriages without kids provide no benefit to society. Married straight couples without kids provide no benefit, either, but they are MUCH more likely to have kids. What you want is 'equality for the sake of equality.' In most cases, you want the benefits just because straight couples have the benefits, not because you need the benefits. It's like saying 'That kid has ice cream, I want ice cream too!'

And this doesn't bother you?

Not terribly.

Do you just not care about LGBT equality at all?

Not in this case, because as I said above, this is a case of 'the other kid has ice cream, I want ice cream, too!' You aren't missing out on a right or something important, you just aren't getting a perk that someone else is.

There are very few actual things I think the LGBT community still needs. In most countries that matter, there's absolutely nothing to fight for; they have everything they need. The only country that's really the exception is the US, and even then, it's not a bad as it's made out to be.

This 'gay rights movement' crap is going overboard; as the number of legitimate things it has to fight for goes down, it becomes more and more like the women's rights movement. Groups are groping for anything they think they can get. I mean, look at that bullshit where some states made gay bullying more severely punished than regular bullying. What the fuck? Gays are more protected from bullying than nerds? This is a blatant inequality.

Rights to see your significant other when they're in the hospital is something worth fighting for. Being able to see your significant other while they're sick should be a right. This is a lot more important than trying to get a perk that most straight couples shouldn't even have.

My interest in this sub-reddit is primarily to keep myself reminded of why I don't date any sort of activists or fund LGBT groups. And the occasional cute picture.

I would just go with a supplement (I use benefiber) or coffee. High fiber vegetables are meh.

This year the "gay penalty tax" for my partner and I was $3700. What was yours? by Ashlynkatin lgbt

[–]omgitsalion 0 points1 point ago*

Yes. I don't have an unrealistic view of the world, nor do I believe I live in a utopian paradise. Absolute equality is something that isn't achievable in our lifetime, and probably can't even happen at all. Like I said, these benefits for married couples originated to help them raise kids.

It would be nice for them to have the same legal treatment, but in this case, it just plain doesn't make sense to spend time pushing for this change. Especially when the number of same sex couples with children is so low.

Pushing for 'equality' here is ignoring why the benefit exists, and seems like just wanting equality for the sake of equality. I could see pushing for this if most gay couples had children, but this isn't the case.

Part of being a mature adult is knowing how to choose your battles. This isn't one that should be chosen, and I'm also not saying this because this doesn't effect me; I lose over $10,000 due to not being married.

Also, the sensationalism that runs rampant on this sub-reddit severely detracts from any possible sympathy to the cause. Gay penalty tax? Seriously?

This year the "gay penalty tax" for my partner and I was $3700. What was yours? by Ashlynkatin lgbt

[–]omgitsalion 0 points1 point ago

I don't agree with tax breaks for married couples, but the reason for their existence primarily has to do with raising children. Same sex couples are far less likely to have children.

I don't know of any study on the issue, but merging statistics on how many gay couples there are and how many children have gay parents, it looks like maybe 15% of gay couples have children, versus the ~45% of straight couples. If you merge gay couples and married couples, I would estimate that less than 4% of couples with children are gay.

This isn't something that I would consider deferring resources that could better be used on bigger issues.

Can I have a salad everyday? It seems to have stopped my weight loss. by youngnomoneyin keto

[–]omgitsalion 1 point2 points ago

Oh, I just realized you've only been doing this for a few days.

During the initial weeks, most of the weight lost is water. After that, you should only be seeing maybe 1 lb / week, depending on your height and weight.

Just hold off weighing yourself for a week.

Do you really mean 600 calorie intake? That's very low. The lowest recommended intake is 1000 calories. Information about starvation mode is really sketchy, but it might be relevant here.

Artificial Sweeteners (what do you use and why) by Mikesizachristin keto

[–]omgitsalion 0 points1 point ago

If you're not American, I find cyclamate is the best sweetener when used in small amounts. I wouldn't use it for any recipe that calls for more than a cup, however.

Artificial Sweeteners by Xophmeisterin keto

[–]omgitsalion 1 point2 points ago

It seems to depend on the person. I drink 2 liters or more or Coke Zero (aspartame) daily and I get no response from it. I also sweeten my coffee with cyclamate (not available in the US) and I don't get a response from that, either.

Also, I don't believe the common sweeteners are have any direct link to cancer. There are some very sketchy studies, but nothing solid. On the other hand, there are also studies that link diet soda with reduced chance of heart disease, but these studies are equally sketchy.

According to the one common study that linked aspartame to cancer (in mice, I think?), I have something ridiculous like a 13000% increased chance of developing cancer.

Any tips from fellow keto travelers? by iopyyy7in keto

[–]omgitsalion 1 point2 points ago

I think the average carb count of a glass of red wine is 4 grams, but don't quote me, because I don't drink alcohol. Whether it's okay or not really varies by person; if you can stay under 20g with 8g spent on wine, it should be fine.

I'm pretty sure whiskey has 0 carbs, as does diet coke, so you can drink as much as you want. People on keto have lower alcohol tolerance, though, so be careful.

Steak, fish, and veggies are all good for keto. Just be careful of eating too much of certain vegetables, such as carrots, and try to avoid things like corn. A lot of sauces contain cornstarch for thickening, which is high carb, so be careful of those, too.

Cheese is usually okay, but can be sketchy. I know there are some milder cheddars that have higher than usual carb counts due to added ingredients, but sharp cheeses are generally safe. Try to avoid cheeses like ricotta, they have a higher carb count, as well.

Without carbs, your body doesn't retain much water. You'll find yourself thirsty more often, which makes it easy to get enough water.

Try Coke Zero, instead of diet coke. It's slightly better for weight loss, regardless.

Question about ELO by KeyworkPredatorin leagueoflegends

[–]omgitsalion -1 points0 points ago

I'm actually platinum. This doesn't effect me at all, because the problem is at lower ratings, where skill levels are all over the place.

I don't particularly care whether or not they fix it. I'm just agreeing that there is a problem with the system at lower ratings and it could be vastly improved if someone actually gave it some attention. High rated games have different flaws that need to be addressed (but aren't), such as duo queues with a large rating difference and poor matchmaking due to the small player pool.

But you know, good job on making idiotic assumptions.
