This came up in one of my classes, it was a senior level class where we studied literally hundreds of experiments. Over time someone asked (I think it was when we were covering Little Albert) and the response was something along the lines of "we can't really do those anymore, it sucks that this happened to Little Albert, but we really did learn a lot. It seems like they got a lot covered before the ethical laws were in place, they can't go back to that, but they can still use the data they gathered.

Every single month, new numbers come out, and some asshole thinks he found a giant government conspiracy to cover up secret astronomical unemployment rates.

The fact of the matter is that if someone is not looking for a job, they do not count them as someone looking for a job. It's common sense, not a vast government propaganda campaign.

whistleblower may be a vague term, but what he is accused of doing doesn't even remotely fit in there. To be a whistle, you have to actually intend to blow the whistle on something. He released tons of documents without actually reading them. There were a couple things in there that we already knew about, but 99% of the cables were absolute garbage, all it exposed was that international leaders all act like a bunch of high school kids. Had he actually read the cables and released ones pertaining to that helicopter fiasco, for example, he wouldn't be in this situation.

New printers come with ink about 1/4 full. It wouldn't pay to go buy the $40 printer when ink is also $40, as you'd be getting less ink.

And as far as ink, there's nothing all that special about the ink, it's the cartridges that they're charging you out the ass for, and the only reason they need the expensive cartridges with all the built in electronics is so that you have to buy from them.

some loss leaders are bad, though. Like printers and their ink. Give the printer away, charge out the ass for ink in the future. This practice makes it nearly impossible for someone with an honest business model to break into the printer market.

But this is a clear case of cops in the wrong.

I mean, even the cops' stories don't make sense. By their own words, they were looking for a 28 year old Laotian man, they ended up arresting a 58 year old Nigerian man.... that's not even close.
