UKIP's argument against allowing gays to marry is complete bollocks. The current proposals have nothing whatsoever to do with religious marriages, the kind performed in churches, mosques and synagogues; they are solely concerned with civil marriages performed in a registry office.

In fact the government isn't even giving churches the option to marry gay couples. Under the current proposals liberal religous groups, like the Quakers or Reform Jews, still wouldn't be able to perform gay marriages even if they wanted to.
