It's like a sunrise, greeting me with happiness in the morning.

I'd pay someone to follow me around with a sax and play Film Noir tunes, hell yeah.

When I lived on the east coast, I once paid a dude a decent sum of money to follow me around for a night and look mean. I had always wanted to look like one of those TV guys with the big mean bodyguard, so I figured what the hell. Put out an ad in the local paper, got a response, and we both dressed up to the nines and went out drinking. He got paid to stand right behind me looking mean, and let me call him Bruno all night.

Note that I didn't pay him to do any actual bodyguarding, that wasn't part of the deal. But he did "rough up" another pal of mine who always had a fantasy of being real-actual-physically picked up and thrown out of a nice bar like always happens in the movies (funny how that worked out).

What I learned: You'd be surprised how much the ladies at a nice club almost fall over themselves to figure out the story of the quiet well-dressed young gentleman with his mean-ass bodyguard. I got phone numbers from four different gals without even asking, but I never followed through. It was a fun night, but I wasn't about to let myself take it too far.

So yeah, you'd be surprised, you might actually have a good thing in the works here =)

Got mugged by two kids near Lloyd Center. by Twinikiain Portland

As someone who has been mugged before on multiple occasions, with actual guns shoved into my actual face, I can attest that you are correct. This wasn't a mugging, this was a snatch and grab, and from the perspective of both victims and perpetrators, they are worlds apart.

I fucking love Higher Taste stuff. Their buzzitos are heavenly. I've tried multiple times to open an account directly with them, but they only supply to businesses. I'm now trying to convince my boss to open one for me.

You should shill these services for hire on craigslist. I can see real actual profit in that.

I'm totally fine with this. Then again, I'm totally fine with AD&D 2E, and this is basically that. "Maestro, I say 'Right on!'"

I could use some advice for running a Lewis and Clark style campaign by non_playerin rpg

[–]non_player[S] 0 points1 point ago

Basically what I'm getting at, is that you need to ask yours players if they are interested in playing an exploration based campaign

This has already been done. The campaign is a Go. I'm just afraid that despite almost two decades of GMing, it might be too much for me to handle. I'm trying to think of exciting things that aren't just combat and +1 swords and dungeons.

For background, this is actually Part Three of a series of campaigns we've had in our alternate history version of the New World. The first involved discovering it as Vikings and such, the second involved being the first to navigate the Tierra del Fuego hundreds of years later, and now I want to re-tell the Lewis and Clark journey, only with some different setting-specific variables. I'm kinda ready for it. There will be inter-party intrigue, dealing with tribes, dealing with secret government interests, action and adventure and yay!

My concern is how to make the discovery of animals and plans exciting. Naturalism and mapping were two major aspects of the L&C adventure, so I'd like to incorporate them somehow, and find a way to get the players interested in this aspect of the story.

Storms, fog, and night could all be difficulties (but then. do they roll perception? again, system matters)

I definitely believe system matters, trust me.

I'm primarily looking for storytelling methods for keeping things fresh, and game-planning ideas. The idea to have them self-map the lands and dungeons is pretty awesome.

This is nifty stuff. Thanks!

I'm not concerned about system right now. In fact, I've already got my system lined up, but I'm not really here to discuss which system is better =)

Or, he could just be a fucking troll. That's my bet. The amount of negative karma he's gained from this thread alone is astronomical, and I've barely even contributed to it. Yeesh.

That's complaining in my book. If he weren't complaining, he wouldn't have called it out.

I would give him that were he not actually moving all the way across my lane. There were no obstacles, and on one else around except a SUV a few car lengths back. He didn't just swerve, he crossed my entire lane. When I clipped him (which wasn't intentional) he was already on my left side - and I ride on the left side of the lane.

(and for the record, I didn't downvote you, I dunno who that was)

I don't believe calling out downvotes is a breach of reddiquette.

Then you should re-read the Reddiquette rules. You can't pick and choose, mate.

For the good of Reddit!

Indeed! =)

Gotcha. It surprised me as well when the dealer was talking in inches. Even the service department mentioned having to use non-metric tools. Could be they're trying to appear to more American riders with the new Boulevards, I dunno. I've had multiple strangers tell me my bike looks like a Harley, which I guess is... cool?

Was a bit irritating the first time I had to use my non-metric tools to remove the mounting bolts so I could install the saddlebag hardpoints. I laughed because I sent like an hour in my garage looking for them, and then it wasn't until after finding them and mounting the bags that I remembered: oh yeah, tool kit in the side compartment. facepalm

That's cool, bro. I'm happy for you. My tools are imperial. I don't understand what your obsession is with proving me wrong here. Did I offend you in the past somehow?

No pic, can't prove it at the moment, sorry. But if I can find my digital after I get home tonight, I'll try and snap a few of the tools.

Brand new, 2012. My included toolbag is all in inches. Which is amusing because the manual cover still says "VL800/C?T"

Looking through the manual again right now, I see about half of the references are to metric and half to imperial. Quarts of oil, but mm relating to spark plugs, inches relating to valve adjustments. Weird.

Either way, if the tools are imperial, I consider the bike to be imperial.

I have no idea what you're writing anymore, but you still keep responding, and given the amount of downvotes all of your comments seem to be getting elsewhere, I'm just going to assume you're trolling. Or you're twelve. Or both. Just keep it up, bro. Be true to yourself. YOLO. All that jazz.

Actually, it's CI as in 50 cubic inches. Additionally all of the included tools, parts, and manual are measured in inches.

Can you describe to me how that is in any way a metric bike? When my own set of metric tools don't fit it? Eh? I'm waiting. This one should be good.
